5 days before the election he was trying to have a porno 3 way ?

I posted this because it adds credence to the hush money claim, by adding a witness who contradicts the story being told.
Even with the wrinkle of hush money, I don't care. If Trump propositioned someone for consensual sex --even kinky consensual sex with a porn star-- and then paid her to keep quiet about it, that's fine. It's his money, and if he wants to spend it keeping sex workers quiet about his pastimes, I'm fine with that. When it comes to sex, it's only the predatory behavior that concerns me.

But is it alright for him to lie about it to the public ? Is it okay to have a POTUS who is sensitive enough about the his sex life to show that he could be subjected to blackmail. Because hush money and blackmail payments aren't that far apart. At that point we are talking about whether or not the blackmail claims in the dossier could be true and whether or not our POTUS is under the thumb of a foreign govt.

At that point his sex life becomes all of our business.

Ideally, politicians wouldn't lie about their sex lives. But I don't care much about that, either. In theory, some affairs could be so devastating to a politician's appeal to his base that the blackmail risk would be very real. If, for example, Ted Cruz is secretly gay, his homosexual affairs would utterly destroy his political career, which is almost entirely based on his holier-than-thou schtick, and I'm sure he'd be willing to do almost anything to keep them from the public. But with Trump, do you really think anyone who hasn't already decided the guy is a monster would change their minds just based on the idea that he has three-ways with porn stars? He's already a well-known womanizer and a deeply seedy individual, so threatening to reveal details of that isn't going to have all that much power, is it? The kind of money he allegedly paid out is convenience money, for someone with his resources, so I don't see it as evidence he's terribly concerned about that kind of thing coming out. Even the story about prostitutes peeing on him isn't the kind of thing I can see rattling his constituency... they know the guy is vile and they don't care. I think they think about him the same way ancient peoples thought about their kings. They simply accept that the sovereign is above the rules they'd apply to anyone else.

You don't see evidence of his concern about the dossier ? He sure has hell has disparaged the pee claim enough time to make me believe he's concerned about it. His narcissism is off the charts. The last thing a guy like that wants is his foibles made public. His constant lying about even the littlest things that most people wouldn't be concerned with tells you that. It's not that calculated for him. He doesn't care about his base other than feeding his ego with their praise because if feeds his need for that.

Perhaps you're right, in his particular case, but I'm still not comfortable with the precedent of treating people's consensual sex lives as matters of public attention simply based on the supposed concern about blackmail. It would need to be a pretty compelling case of blackmail risk for me to override the ordinary principle that what a guy does with his genitals in his private life is his owned damned business, as long as everyone involved is a consenting adult.

We aren't talking about a normal politician. We aren't even talking about a normal person. I believe his policies are based on Obama having joked about him at the correspondent's dinner and he'll destroy the lives of millions to sooth his own ego. So I don't doubt he'd betray the entire country for it either.

Adult-film star reportedly spoke to journalist in 2016 about Trump settlement, fearing he wouldn’t pay up

By Mark Berman January 16 at 5:04 PM

An adult-film star who was reportedly paid to remain silent about a sexual relationship with Donald Trump a decade before he became president spoke to a journalist because she feared he would not pay up, according to a new account.

Stephanie Clifford, whose professional name is Stormy Daniels, spoke to the online magazine Slate multiple times in 2016 before breaking off contact a week before the election, Jacob Weisberg, chairman and editor in chief of the Slate Group, wrote in an article published Tuesday.

In the story, Clifford is described as having “worked out an agreement for the presidential candidate to pay her a six-figure sum to keep quiet.” This document would have shielded the names of the parties involved, the Slate article added.

“Daniels said she was talking to me and sharing these details because Trump was stalling on finalizing the confidentiality agreement and paying her,” Weisberg wrote. “Given her experience with Trump, she suspected he would stall her until after the election, and then refuse to sign or pay up.”

I told you so !

There must be hundreds of people in a position to blackmail Trump. Throughout the world.

Especially in the Kremlin. So far he's bending over backwards to pay up with Vlad. So the stuff must really be damaging.

I suspected she was ready to go to the tabloids because she was sure Trump was going to stiff her one way or another just like the all the other victims of his financial chicanery.
