I enjoy watching people argue and exclaim over debt, but this is what your forebears brought when this nation was created. Your problems began with the Continental Congress. They financed their war of Independence by printing currency that was exchangeable for coin. But wait, they had no coin, so the currency was worthless.
The Shinnecock had purple shells, that came from the quahog clam, which they turned into beads. Other tribes had cowrie shells, some had pipestone, and still others had pottery, or furs. There was no debt. We bartered and traded for what we wanted.
But now we have a civilized society, or so we are told. And yet neither side wants to sit down and resolve the problems facing this nation. All they want to do is argue, blame it on someone else, when they all had a hand in creating the problem. So where is the civility? Where is the common sense economy?
If we truly have a debt problem, where is the willingness to work out the problems?
