In addition to the political aspect of appealing to the left-leaning California government, they went to Tijuana because a lot of them were Barrio 18 gangbangers. The area around Juarez and Matamoros (which would have been a lot shorter trip) is Los Zetas territory and they are allied with MS-13. MS-13 and Barrio 18 kill each other on sight.... if the caravan had entered that area they would have gotten lit the fvck up.

The shorter route would have taken them to the gulf coast border with Texas...where the port of entry is allowing a handful per day. In any case the story I read was that buses were to be provided by the Mexican gov. to drive these people to Tijuana. Don't know if that is true, but a lot of the migrants were told that.

I don't disagree that the gangs are dangerous. They'd probably rob the people in the caravan, rape the women..."recruit" teens. What you haven't shown is that there are a lot of gang members in the caravan.

How fast would they be rejected for asylum when their tats are seen? If they'd been deported in the past they'd be ineligible...making that long walk a waste of time.

I've already stated that I think there are better ways to discourage illegals. The wall is a waste of time and money.

Congress should repeal the Wilberforce law that favors people from Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua in any case.
