and seven reasons why most clouds don't have a silver lining

1 - you can only be as happy as your least successful child. If he/she is a dropout, on drugs, welfare dependent, etc you will be in agony every day.

2 - your car is worth less as a trade in than the loan balance you still owe on it.

3 - if the workers at the fast food place think you're a cop, a jew, a racist, or too rich, they will spit in your burger. they do it all the time.

4 - after age 40 you're more likely to be mugged than get married (from the film "sleepless in seattle")

5 - there is no god. sorry . . . if there were, why would good things be happening to bad people all the time, and vice versa?

6 - 3 cups of coffee can cause sudden cardiac arrest. this according to news reports earlier this week. The recommended safe dosage of caffeine is 105 mgs, or about 2/3 or a cup of coffee.

7 - in the end, you're going to die. we're all going to die. this is the first day of the rest of my death.

    I don't like parties. I don't like crowds. I don't like strangers. I don't like drunks.

    7. Happy people are healthier.

If you need another reason why you should be happy right now, here’s a good one: research shows a direct correlation between health and happiness. Happy people tend to take better care of themselves by exercising more and eating healthier than unhappy folks.

So don’t wait until tomorrow …choose happiness now!

The happiness of your life depends upon the quality of your thoughts: therefore, guard accordingly, and take care that you entertain no notions unsuitable to virtue and reasonable nature.

Could talk about 1 but it would take hours. 2, yeah. 3, yuk, glad I never eat at such places. 4, probably true even though I'm a statistical anomaly -- got re-married in my 40's.
Now about 5: There was a great book written about that very thing. It's title in The Book of Job. Definitely worth reading.
6: I'm on my 4th right now. Nice knowing you all. Glad I'm not counting cigarettes. :)
7: Dying is the first day of a new beginning for you and, if you did the life thing right, of your memory in others' hearts inspiring them to keep making this world better.

You were probably being facetious, ASOT, but if not and you're feeling down, message me and we can talk about it if you like.

    You're wrong.

    Now you stand corrected.

    Have a great day.

Now I stand contradicted. A correction would require evidence, not just a contrary assertion. Do you have examples of similarly up-beat material from before the election? I recall you doing a lot of evangelical posts, where you just quoted some Bible language. However, more recently I've seen a lot of "cheer up," "reason for optimism," "something to be happy about," and assorted "good news" stories from you, including the kind of cheer-leading I never saw you do for upbeat economic news in the Obama years (e.g., regarding consumer confidence, job creation, the stock market, etc.) Did I just miss those, or did you only notice the positive trends once Trump was elected?

When the topic is how I feel, I'm the obvious expert. In my expert opinion, I feel great. I have felt great for a very long time, and something as trivial as the occupant of the White House has had no impact on that.

Whether you believe that or not is up to you. It really doesn't matter as far as I can tell.

Each of us is responsible for our own happiness, so act accordingly.

OK. Stipulating that you felt great in the Obama years and continue to do so, that still leaves the marked change in your posting habits. In the Obama years, despite some really impressive runs of improvement for America, you had a nose for bad news, whereas now you announce each snippet of good news as if it were a huge break with the past.

    Sure there are.

Then just make sure your least successful child is the happiest.

Always buy used and let some other sucker eat the depreciation.

Think of them as secretly helping you build up immunity to wide variety of communicable diseases.

So by extension if you look for a future mate in bad neighborhoods your chances of success are greatly improved.

Maybe he just has bad aim ?

Which strangely makes crack both cheaper and safer than Starbucks
    Hmmm ?

Yet oddly enough you could still owe taxes.

Or... buy new and drive for a long time. I've had my car 10 years. My wife has had her car over 14 years.

Or you can keep it until it becomes a classic ?

I had cars old enough to run for congress.
