    So long Remington

On Thursday, the Connecticut Supreme Court put the gun industry on notice: If you advertise your weapons as alluring tools for mass slaughter, you will face consequences—at least in this state.

By a 4–3 vote, the court revived a lawsuit by the families of Sandy Hook victims alleging that Remington recklessly marketed its Bushmaster AR-15–style weapon for “illegal, offensive purposes,” contributing to Adam Lanza’s murder of 26 people at their elementary school. The majority ruled that a federal law does not shield Remington from liability for wrongful advertising, permitting a jury to determine whether Remington can be held liable. Its decision is a stunning blow to the firearms industry, which has long claimed near-absolute immunity from such lawsuits. And it allows the plaintiffs to uncover private, potentially damning communications that will reveal how Remington peddles its lethal products to the public.

The junk AR15 is about to be tossed into the heap

The Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act (PLCAA) is a United States law which protects firearms manufacturers and dealers from being held liable when crimes have been committed with their products. ... The PLCAA is codified at 15 U.S.C. §§ 7901-7903.

That law has been on the books for a few years now
Courts can rule how they may
It's up to Congress to change the law and Congress doesn't have to change the law.

So will the "gun maker" that made the gun that a liberal Trump hating POS traveled from Illinois with a kill list to Washington to ambush Republican C0ngressmen at baseball practice?

Can that "gun maker" be sued? Probably not with any judge from a Blue State.

The suits are going ahead, no one has blanket immunity, or should because absolute power is anarchy.

Connecticut overstepped its authority but it isn't shocking coming from an anti-gun state such as that. The feds created the law to stop this type of backdoor gun grab.

Can anyone explain why victims of car crashes don't sue the auto companies?. They sell cars that are DESIGNED to do 2-3 times the legal speed limit!! And they install radios and now internet access to distract drivers and cause crashes. And they air TV commercials that emphasize speeding. No company is as irresponsible as the car companies.

That’s a cop out answer. You can do better. The idiot has his issues, but this time has a valid question. Car manufacturers build cars with much more power than is needed on the road, and advertise them in ways actually encouraging the buyers to drive irresponsibly. With all this talk about this lawsuit, I don’t ever remember seeing an ad for any gun encouraging someone they can be like a navy seal. In fact, I don’t remember seeing an ad for a firearm that wasn’t a picture of the gun, a list of some of the features and calibers available, and maybe a price.

No it isn't and a short answer is fitting because they're not the same. It's an analogy that is made continuously and it's only purpose is to muddy the water and avoid the real issue.
