Cons, what Bush policies do you still support ?

It doesn't need to be said that you don't or won't support few if any of the current president's new policies. I find this strange because the end results of the Bush policies were by most measurements a complete disaster. And since the resistance to changes in policies by this new president only defaults the nation to the policies of his predecessor. I like to know which Bush policies do you find superior to Obama's, and most importantly why ?

They liked the tax cuts to the millionaires and billionaires and the huge increases in defense spending, and a couple of cowboy wars.

maybe more than 2 hours? the thread was just posted

mostly what I object to is the straw, if you're actually asking and want to have a conversation, then let them answer. If you just want to post a thread to rant about conservatives, carry on, but you're not helping your case any.

They by an large won't answer hard questions. And by hard I mean question that would open them up to having to explain their " Then and Now" positions.

If that's so, then your point has been proven, and mischaracterizing their positions only overdoes it. That doesn't make you look too good.

But their position was correctly characterized. They still support the same policy he noted. Even though this same policies of bush era stimulus tax cuts that were aim mainly at benefiting millionaires and billionaires and cowboy wars together have been shown to be the largest contributors to the yearly deficits they're now angry with Obama over .

While they may be technically accurate, I think we can both agree that it could be phrased...more politely?

I think the more fair questions are - what policies did you ever support.

I personally never supported a single think Bush did EXCEPT maybe the accelerated depreciation benefits that really helped small businesses. Other than that.... worthless. Possibly one of the worst Presidents ever.

However opposing Obama - does not equate to liking Bush or any of his policies.......

Bush was a big government war mongering Kloset Keynesian. I support none of his policies. Obama has either maintained them, doubled down on them or come up with even worse new ones. If we don't reject all this big government socialism we are doomed.

I don't know who "they" are. And, i wasn't on this board or others before. But, I will say that I was ALWAYS against the Iraq invasion, and I was against Afghanistan as well.

...I supported two things:

1. The decision NOT to release oil from the National Reserves when prices spike. I also hated when Obama did release oil...
2. When bush originally came out in favor of the sale of the ports (I think in Staten Island) to Dubai Ports. This was a good business decision but the pols and talking heads forced him to change his position - ridiculous...

I also thought he did a very good job soon after the attack on NYC and the Pentagon in 2001. He had the country and the world behind him. - it quickly deteriorated but he did start out pretty well.

I would say the Bush Tax Cuts, since those earning under $25K were given a tax rate of 0%. But, when it expires at the end of 2012, those earning $25K or less will have to pay a 15% rate.

But don't worry, Obama who made $1.7 million in 2010 and paid a 26% rate instead of the top rate of 35%, will have his rate rise to 38%.
