Cop FIRED for having racist memorabilia in his HOME!!!!

If he were displaying it outside while in uniform it would. But it was in his home and the only reason the PD knew about it was because a prospective home buyer saw it and complained.
The prospective home buyer posted it on social media. And people get fired for what gets posted on social media every day.
His realtor should have told him to put it away.
Yea... probably so, but that's not going to save his job
You had better hope the day never comes when somebody can be fired for what they display in their home. It's the ultimate invasion of privacy.
He literally invited a black guy in to come look at his house with KKK memorabilia hanging on the wall. Setting aside the racism for a moment, he should be fired for being a moron.

That absolutely was a violation of his privacy. They had no right to take pictures inside his home without his permission. That's a fact.

Can you be fired for owning a gun?

Did he know the couple were black?

If the cop were a lesbian and someone said they saw a picture of her in a gay pride parade and there was a rainbow flag in her house which offended them, would she have been put on leave, investigated and eventually terminated or is this whole "it's offensive" to have something I don't like a "standard" that is applied to only white males?
Differing standard of course.
Unless they also believe that people with MLK and Rosa Parks portraits and who belong to Black Lives Matter should legally be fired from their jobs by their white employers?

He didn't break into his home, he was literally invited in.

Oh hell yes, you can.

No, you cannot be fired for owning a gun. You can be fired ONLY for bringing one to work if the rules forbid it.
Think: if we could all be fired for owning a gun, the left could get rid of guns by firing everybody until they turned their guns in and non-ownership would be a requirement for getting a job.

He should be fired for being a moron because he invited a black guy to come into his home without hiding his old historical memorabilia?

Uhhhhh……….. OK?

Wouldn't it have also been racist to hide your antiques because you were going to have a black guy over?

Allowing someone to tour the home as a prospective buyer does not give anyone permission to take photographs of the owner's personal belongings. That's what was done here. No buyer needs a photo of a framed document on the wall.

You can fired for owning a gun. You can be fired for anything that reflects poorly on your employer sans race, gender, age, disability, veteran status, and sexual orientations(in some locales)

What? you don't like the free market?

I have never been there so I don't know for sure, but I am guessing at a museum they explained the racist context of Nazi memorabilia.

No, museums are where that stuff belongs.

Owners are not fired.
No, they didn't. They merely said they were on loan and a temporary display. The items didn't fit in with the rest of the exhibits about troop trains from WWII at all. We weren't told who the owner was, nor where he or she might work.

a KKK application is racist memorabilia. It makes him a moron to invite a black guy to come potentially buy his house with racist memorabilia hanging on the wall.

I have no idea, what was in this museum or not.
You tell me, was the display racist or not?

if it reflects poorly on their employer.
If it’s in the privacy of one’s own home how would it become knowledge of the employer?
That still doesn’t make sense.
When it comes to sexual activity, we can’t discriminate against someone based on what they do in the privacy of their own home. Even if they broadcast these acts publicly.
So I think you’re being highly selective here. Hope your not an employer. You will face some major lawsuits.
