Why do you do this to yourself, Edited?

“Every two and half minutes an Air Force transport aircraft takes off or lands somewhere around the globe. As our aircrews serve on these international airlift missions, they follow strict guidelines on contracting for hotel accommodations and all expenditures of taxpayer dollars,” Brig. Gen. Ed Thomas said in the statement. “In this case, they made reservations through the Defense Travel System and used the closest available and least expensive accommodations to the airfield within the crews’ allowable hotel rates. While we are still reviewing the trip records, we have found nothing that falls outside the guidelines associated with selecting stopover airports on travel routes and hotel accommodations for crew rest.”

    Brig. Gen. Ed Thomas:

    https://politicalhotwire.com/thread...-routine-trip-trump’s-scottish-resort.214460/

In early Spring of this year, an Air National Guard crew made a routine trip from the U.S. to Kuwait to deliver supplies.

What wasn’t routine was where the crew stopped along the way: President Donald Trump’s Turnberry resort, about 50 miles outside Glasgow, Scotland.

Since April, the House Oversight Committee has been investigating why the crew on the C-17 military transport plane made the unusual stay — both en route to the Middle East and on the way back — at the luxury waterside resort, according to several people familiar with the incident. But they have yet to receive any answers from the Pentagon.

The inquiry is part of a broader, previously unreported probe into U.S. military expenditures at and around the Trump property in Scotland. According to a letterthe panel sent to the Pentagon in June, the military has spent $11 million on fuel at the Prestwick Airport — the closest airport to Trump Turnberry — since October 2017, fuel that would be cheaper if purchased at a U.S. military base. The letter also cites a Guardian report that the airport provided cut-rate rooms and free rounds of golf at Turnberry for U.S. military members.

Taken together, the incidents raise the possibility that the military has helped keep Trump’s Turnberry resort afloat — the property lost $4.5 million in 2017, but revenue went up $3 million in 2018.

Trump has thoroughly corrupted his administration.
It is disheartening that the Air Force rolled over for him. I look forward to their heads rolling.

That's a lot of stops. Purposeful stops wasting taxpayer money.

I wonder how the Grifter-in-Chief communicated that order to the Air Force.

The very NYT article itself says that the Pentagon selected the location well before Trump was elected.

Why can leftists not be honest, decent human beings? What the heck happened to you during your upbringing, Don? “Sensible” is not a synonym for honest - that’s for darned certain.

Spreading conspiracies, lies, and propaganda is innate for these people. There is zero honesty to anything they do.

It’s become bloody ridiculous. Imagine being so religiously invested into your politics that it justifies (in your own warped mind) everything that you do.

What the heck are we cultivating? No wonder we have mass-butchering psychos cutting down strangers on a whim. We’re apparently stripping away any semblance of conscience as a society.

I see you Trump sycophants learned NOTHING from Trump's
    "Stormy" past

    Trump tweet:

“I know nothing about an Air Force plane landing at an airport (which I do not own and have nothing to do with) near Turnberry Resort (which I do own) in Scotland, and filling up with fuel, with the crew staying overnight at Turnberry (they have good taste!),” Trump tweeted Monday. “NOTHING TO DO WITH ME.”

    Reality:

It is not the first time Mr Trump and his companies have been expressed a keen interest in Prestwick’s passenger services since he bought Turnberry in April 2014.
    ...
That same month, the airport and the Trump Organisation issued a joint press release announcing they had formed an “official partnership” and “strategic alliance.”
    ...
The nature of the relationship was unclear until correspondence released under Freedom of Information legislation to Scotland on Sunday showed airport officials had held unminuted discussions over “potential partnership opportunities” and disclosed business development targets with Trump Turnberry

Until 2018 this airport was losing millions. It was bought by the Scottish govt 2013 for 1 pound just to keep it open.

    Now ?

The lucrative deal with the US military is now the beleaguered airport’s single biggest revenue stream by some considerable distance. In the first three months of 2019, for instance, the DLA authorised payments to Prestwick worth £1.4m. That is more than twice the revenue generated via passenger services in the entirety of 2017/18.

The Scotsman has learned that the airport is set to secure a new, longer contract with the agency. The extended deal - known as a EUCOM Into-Plane contract - will come into force on 1 October and lasts until 30 September 2024.

Its value has yet to be determined, but it is understood the new deal would allow for the supply of around 12.4 million gallons of aviation fuel, around three million more than the existing arrangement.

I remember when you upstanding conservatives used to frown up PAY TO PLAY.

Boy did you take us for a ride with your supposed moral outrage.

The Pentagon struck the deal during the Obama Presidency - and the NYT article in your OP states this. That is a fact.

Trump must’ve greased the heck outta Obamapalm.
