Holy cow.So then you agree that American culture is unique.
That was a yes or no question.Holy cow.
Review.
Duh!That was a yes or no question.
If you do believe that American culture is unique, then Jen's statement about dilution is relevant.
I would disagree. Its, generally, western European culture of yesterday. What is American culture?
It is immigrant culture.
Your list is ridiculous.
Wrong, America is not a homogeneous culture. We aren't a Latino culture, so to allow a mass immigration of Latinos would most definitely dilute our culture.Duh!
Covered that Already.
Review.
So you agree that it is ridiculous to say that a culture that is purely the product of immigration would be diluted by immigration right?
We’re a very long way from that.Wrong, America is not a homogeneous culture. We aren't a Latino culture, so to allow a mass immigration of Latinos would most definitely dilute our culture.
That wasn't part of the discussion. We’re a very long way from that.
It is now. : )That wasn't part of the discussion.
Enjoy thenIt is now. : )
Look at our music, our food, etc. It is NOT the product of Western European culture. If so they would have invented it.I would disagree. Its, generally, western European culture of yesterday.
The reason it's that way goes back to the smashing of every other culture that enters this nation, or forcing them into sections of our cities and country side where their culture cant interfere with the "preferred" culture.
That is changing however as our society moves to being more inclusive and open, mostly due to the interweb and social media. It scares the remnants of yesterday, but fits entirely into the premise of our nation.
Well said, man.Look at our music, our food, etc. It is NOT the product of Western European culture. If so they would have invented it.
Ours is BETTER than Western European culture because it is a hybrid of what happens when you force Western European culture to mix with African culture, and Italian culture, and Slavic culture, and Mexican culture and Asian Culture.
We lead the World in culture because we are not Western Europe.
We are a culture of immigrants.
America is a hybrid culture made up of mass immigration of Irish, of Asians, of Slavic people's, of Hispanics, of Italians.Wrong, America is not a homogeneous culture. We aren't a Latino culture, so to allow a mass immigration of Latinos would most definitely dilute our culture.

How has "La Bamba" made America better? The influx of illegals has increased crime, made the financial burden on the people who live here harder, increased poverty and has created a huge drug epidemic. "La Bamba" seems like a bad trade off to me.America is a hybrid culture made up of mass immigration of Irish, of Asians, of Slavic people's, of Hispanics, of Italians.
All of which were opposed in their time by people like you, for the same reasons you oppose Latinos.
They were wrong then just like you are wrong now.
And by the way, Latinos have been immigrating here in large numbers for generations. It has made us better.
Americas favorite comfort food is pizza, our favorite condiment is Salsa.
La Bamba by Ricardo valenzuela, a Latino American was a hit in the 50's, "senorita" by Camila Cabello, a Latina American, hit number one this year.
Hate to break it to you but a large influx of Latinos is part of what has made America great for generations.
We are talking about culture. Latinos are part of what has made American culture what it is.How has "La Bamba" made America better? If they're here legally then they aren't illegals. This is what I hate about the left. We talk about illegal immigration and you seem to think we are talking about all Latinos. Yes, the Latin culture has enhanced the American experience, and has MELDED nicely into our culture. Illegals don't bring "additional culture" they bring crime, poverty, and drugs.First of all we are talking g about culture. It is part of what makes American culture.
Second. The rest of your post is false.
Most Hispanics are here legally.
Illegal immigrants have not I creased crime. They are way less likely to be
We are talking about culture. Latinos are part of what has made American culture what it is.
Second, the rest of you post is fictional nonsense.
Also we were talking g about Latino immigrants.....you switched it to illegals.
But let's talk about illegalz.
Illegals are way less likely to be involved in serious crime than Americans are.
Illegals contribute more economically to America than they cost. It is a net gain.
Those are facts.
And it is utter propaganda and lies to blame increased poverty and the drug problem on illegals. Illegals contribute more then they take from this country. They are way less likely to be involved in crime and way less likely to be involved in drugs than Americans are.
Facts matter

The distinction is that what enhancement to the American culture that Latinos offer has been made. YOU seem to think that allowing more to just poor in gives us better culture, it doesn't. What it does do is degrade the culture we do have by inundating us with crime, drugs, and poverty. Even legal immigrants have a hard time with the influx of illegals. We are talking about culture. Hispanics are Hispanics regardless of their immigration status.
What does the distinction have to do with the discussion we are having about culture?
The Latino contribution is continuing to be made. It was made by both legal and illegal hispanics in the past and it is ongoing. The distinction is that what enhancement to the American culture that Latinos offer has been made.
