As if we needed yet even more evidence of the incompetence of the Obama cartel, we see yet another example. 858 illegal aliens eligible for deportation were granted citizenship. And let's be frank here. My accusing the Obama cartel of incompetence is being gracious, as this was likely intentional.

And THIS is the federal government leftists want to entrust with yet even more power!

DHS Mistakenly Granted Citizenship to 858 'Special Interest' Illegals

Nick Kangadis | September 20, 2016 10:29am ET

It seems as though there is no accountability left in government. Although, to be fair, the liberal mantra of deflecting blame whenever possible fits perfectly in this situation.

Now, it's come out that 858 illegal immigrants from “special interest” countries have received U.S. citizenship from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) instead of being deported, according to the department's Inspector General.

According to the Washington Times:

The problem, according to the audit, is tens of thousands of illegal immigrants and criminal aliens whose files are so old that their fingerprints are still on paper cards.

Some of them managed to avoid deportation and applied for citizenship anyway, using different names than those in the deportation files. They should have been caught by the fingerprint check, but U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services wasn’t checking the paper files and missed them, never learning about their prior run-ins that usually made them ineligible.

U.S. Inspector General John Roth said, “This situation created opportunities for individuals to gain the rights and privileges of U.S. citizenship through fraud.”

This is a case of laziness and mismanagement of funds to the highest degree, because in 2012 Congress approved $5 million for DHS to transfer all of the paper fingerprint files to digitized form. However, DHS said they ran out of the money allocated to this situation before they were able to process another 148,000 aliens into the system.

Sen. Ben Sasse (R-Neb.) commented on this egregious error, saying, “This is a picture of total incompetence. A bureaucracy that blunders so badly is one that doesn’t take our national security seriously.”

Roth’s investigators say they noticed another 953 cases that they deem suspicious, which they have not completely resolved.

How many of our taxpayer dollars does the federal government need to do the jobs they were appointed to do? These professional bureaucrats always seem to come up with the same excuse: "We need more money. We just don’t have the funds."

But for puppets like DHS Secretary Jeh Johnson, who was appointed by President Obama, pushing their agenda far outweighs the consequences resulting from said agenda.

Figures that you'd like to blame Obama, as if none of this problem goes back to before 2009....

If George Bush was still President this story would be on a 24hr loop on every major news network in the country.

for this sort of "mistake" someone should be fired, or demoted.

I'm not hearing that there was any action taken.
The problem goes back to methods used to record finger prints that have yet to be converted to digital...It starts with an investigation back in 2008....the info seems to say that people submitted new information under a different id to avoid deportation...since fingerprints were on paper they weren't able to match them to the older deportation order...

The stupidity, incompetence and lack of accountability in Gov't never fails to amaze me. I know I should be over it by now. Indeed, I regularly have to work with the IRS - and you don't get a more stupid and incompetent bunch than that.. but the mind numbing stupidity of any Gov't worker I have ever encountered.. still leaves me astonished.. if for nothing more than you wonder how a creature so incredibly inept and unintelligent could actually find its way to work on a daily basis.

Once granted citizenship a person will have legal recourse to fight any action to deport them...the Snopes article says something like 90 investigations were in progress.

I don't think enough is known at the moment...but this is much like when the VA was accused of mismanagement. It was the Obama administration that discovered the problem and then was blamed for it....Shinseki should have been congratulated...not forced to resign. That is a way to encourage people to hide problems.

In the case of 800 to 900 investigations that need to happen to resolve the status of these individuals...how many additional investigators are available? How many additional lawyers? Each case where evidence is enough to deport....they are now subject to due process and a lawyer will have to file papers.

So you have evidence then that they have found these people and are pursuing the revocation of their citizenship attained fraudulently?

I posted the only details I could find. Do you have evidence that there is no effort to file charges? Do you think that people can simply be rounded up and incarcerated? I'm of the opinion that now there is a legal process that must be followed and it takes time to do so.

How anyone thinks that hundreds of thousands of paper fingerprint records would have magically been digitized on January 20th 2009 is beyond me.

Well, they have either tried and been unsuccessful, thus incompetent..

Or they haven't tried, and thus have been incompetent and negligent.

Pick one.

If they had been found and deported - then there would not be too much to talk about in the report, so I certainly think the report is infering that these people are not in the process for deportion and revocation of their citizenship.

No one thinks they would "magically be digitized". But, using that as a reason of subsequent incompetence, is weak.

How is it incompetence if the issue is an inability for an old system and a new system to work together? The old records must be digitized for all records to be able to be matched. If there is no funding for that process then it is a matter of inertia....not incompetence.

How is it not? Your job is to do your job. Bitching about the way you have to do it is either laziness or incompetence. Take your pick. You find the money and make it work. Period. Excuses are for whiners.
