Dr. Birx gives props to the Cuomo/NY approach

This will no doubt piss off Trump, but Birx is right.

Cuomo’s approach, as cogently explained at his pressers, is completely organized and meticulous. He does not spend his time ranting at reporters. And his approach is systematic and purely data driven. An example for all states, said Birx...

I feel a bit lightheaded. Maybe you should drive.
She was telling the other states to quit whining about the federal response and start gathering data on what equipment and material they have and where it is located, like New York has done. That's just common sense and it is sad that they others have to be told to use it.

Other states have done that. But it doesn’t matter, because the supplies they need cannot be bought, states cannot compel their production, and Trump dithers and yells at reporters while medical workers beg for equipment.

If Cuomo is so bright why are more people dying in NY than anywhere else

Answer because Chomo has no clue

Informed people know that NY is the center of the world, chock full of domestic and international travelers, who carried the virus to NY. Informed people also know that NY is densely populated, enhancing the spread of the virus.

But in any event, the issue now is how to best fight the virus throughout the country now that it has spread throughout the country due to months of Trump bumbling.

Well then Chomo should have enforced a NY travel ban instead of welcoming illegals

Yawn

Cuomo can’t enforce international travel bans, and the topic is not “illegals.” Only Trump can enforce international travel bans.

But your latest effort to defend the buffoon-in-chief is noted. You’re going down swinging.

Gonna be interesting watching Chomo's residents die because he opposed Trumps multiple international travel bans including those coming in from Mexico

Again, Cuomo has no authority over international travel bans. You are struggling with this basic concept.

Ohio has been preparing......just like New York.
Our health director is top notch.
Gov DeWine listens to her. She told DeWine about the Arkansas church where the membership refused to stay at home......and too many came up positive. DeWine asked again for churches to stop holding services.....and probably wishes he hadn't exempted churches from the order in the first place.

And Ohio seems to be flattening the curve...

I remember DeWine from back in the old days, when most Republicans were competent and sane. Alas, those days are gone, with few exceptions, like DeWine.

I count 2 governors.....DeWine and Hogan. The rest of the competent and sane Republicans are the Never Trumpers.

Yes, they cannot be bought, but no one has to "compel their production." It is simply Marxist claptrap to suggest companies would rather their factories sit idle than produce the medical products that are needed all across the world. Those in that business are working to produce all the material they possibly can. Those that aren't are rapidly retooling to help meet the demand. Nobody can snap their fingers and make these products available in sufficient quantities, so stop your mindless hectoring over the "failure" of the business community to ride to the rescue of the health care community. Unlike your worthless blathering on the subject, they are actually DOING something about it.

BTW, Sherrod Brown is awesome, demonstrating what a competent president would do...

Happily, FDR and WWII planners didn’t yap about “leaving things to the free market” in such times. As we saw then, and see now, sometimes the free market just doesn’t get it done, for a variety of reasons.

And we see nothing suggesting that Trump’s blundering and dithering will end.

While "can't potus" Trump is busy planning his PR campaign.

The Washington Post's Phil Rucker:

"In his press conference on Sunday, Trump cited the March 16 worst-case death estimate of 2.2 million from the Imperial College COVID-19 Response Team. if nothing was done to mitigate the virus’ spread.

“The prospect of 2 million deaths seemed to stick with Trump,” Rucker observes, “because he repeated the statistic 16 times at Sunday’s news conference.” It suggests Trump is laying the groundwork for declaring his lackluster response a glorious victory should the final death tally be less.

Well, for sure tin pot authoritarian FDR was inclined to "nationalizing" businesses in pursuit of his war strategy designed to paper over the failures of his economic policies to end the Great Depression (because, of course, that is what was causing it to drag on and on and on). But, in fact, there were no manufacturers making bombs and bombers so there was more coordination involved in that effort. In this case, we have a number of manufacturers already engaged in making the very products the medical community needs. The others have (now) been sidelined by a distinct lack of customers, unlike in the years leading up to and during WWII, so no compelling needed - except in your authoritarian dream for the future of America. Thank goodness nobody is listening to you whiners...

informed people also know since 2003 NY has closed 18 hospitals (16 in the city) due to state cutting medicade

Informed people know why NYC hospitals are struggling with COVID-19 & Swine Flu pandemics...……...fewer hospitals!

People were told ObamaCare was the fix-all:) how's that working out?
