Humans do do things that have cooling influences, like adding aerosols to the environment, and a minority of scientists had models that said the influence of these would overwhelm the influence of the amplified greenhouse effect and lead to overall cooling, but those models were revised as observations showed their assumptions were wrong, and models today have a much narrower range of parameters allowing for a much more robust consensus.
