Ahhhh................but we were here in the heyday of Political Jack when they paid us just to post here. I have a beautiful set of coffee cups in my cupboard paid for by PJ. Just saying.
Ha! This is where I wail that I did all that work way back then and all I got was a tee-shirt.

That's interesting.

www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=puma
An attractive woman in her late 20s or early 30s. She is a pre-cougar/urban cougar.

Yes, I was one of those very few who actually meant it when I declared Party Unity My Ass (PUMA) and voted for John McCain for president instead. Mind you I did not then become Right of Center over night. It took about two more years before I decided that the Dem Party voters had collectively gone off the ideological deep end with Obama.

In truth I consider myself to be an Independent with conservative tendencies at this point in time. I am definitely not wedded to the GOP; I just like to romp with it in the bedroom from time to time . . .

Former RNC member here (it's no longer the "GOP" IMO). A right-leaning Independent.

Yeah that seems to be the nationwide trend. There was a Harvard survey of youths conducted a few months after Barack Obama got re-elected in 2012, conducted after all those interesting scandals broke; all those scandals that the Left-ALLIED Mainstream Media made certain didn't break until after Obama was safely re-elected. Anyway besides the bulk of the college age youths stating that they wished they could have Obama recalled -- being bitter about being conned (again) into voting for him -- most of them admitted that because of Obama they were shifting their political designation from Democrat to . . . political Independent.

So Left or Right the trend seems to be towards a designation of political Independent whether or not one ends up voting for a Dem or a GOP politician when all is said and done. Personally I find that trend to be encouraging.

The Democrats did take a hard turn to the Left with Obama. Anymore, it seems that romping in the bedroom with either party is a mistake. o_O

Right, but in retrospect I guess I probably always was a political Independent even when I thought I was a Democrat, because I did vote for G.W. Bush in 2000, although I voted for Kerry in 2004. I guess it just took me longer than the average bear to consciously realize that I vote for whichever political critter I think most likely to be best for this country at any given point in time.

It is supposed to be the course of wisdom to 'know thine self'. Well sure, but it takes some of us longer than others . . . ;)

I am pretty independent in my thinking too. I voted for Carter the first time I voted. Big mistake. I haven't voted Dem since. I didn't vote for Bush in 2000. I abstained. And I see Kerry as a traitor so I would never vote for him. Abstained again. I won't vote 3rd party because I see it as a vote for the worst of the other two.

If I ever saw a Democrat I thought would be "best for the country" I'd vote for him/her but since the Dem Party now seems to be Marxist with a decided protection of fanatical Islam, I doubt I'll ever think one of their candidates is "best for the country".

Well it's been years since last I visited PoliticalJack with the intention of doing a bit of posting and I find everything changed to the extent that I'm not certain that I can get comfortable posting here again. It's not the old names that throw me off. To be honest very few of you ring any sort of memory bell for me anymore. I mean I know that I once posted back and forth with a good many of you but that's about it.

Hell, I've actually had to look at my control panel to see which ones of you I was 'friends' with years ago. That's not a mark against you, by the way, that's just the way my aging brain works nowadays. Out of sight, out of mind. Ah the joys of racing toward sixty.

It's the altered format that gets to me. Unless I am more at sea than usual there's no longer any way to create a hybrid view of a thread. It's just straight in line or nothing. Shudder! Why would PJ have switched to such a restricted format? Ah well, no doubt that change was made years ago. That's how long I've been away.

Do I actually want to post here again? I don't really know. My regular stomping grounds have begun to irritate me. But perhaps it's this new presidential cycle. It's too damn early for things to already be this damn crazy. I mean people are seriously talking about Donald Trump as a viable presidential candidate; the man who is famous for melting down in mid campaign. Then we have the Queen of Corruption, Hillary Clinton and at least three different government organizations getting serious about the e-mail scandal with her. Really? This campaign cycle has barely fluttered off the ground and yet already there is a hurricane of controversies and drama. I don't know if my poor ol' heart can take it; fun though it has been so far.

Yeah I think I will try this for a while and see if I can make myself adjust to this outrageously limited posting format. Who knows? I might even manage to talk myself into liking it.
Hulk up and go get em.

Welcome back.

Thanks Phil. I think I have a feel for the technicalities now of posting on PJ -- very different from other forum systems! -- and so now it just remains to determine what sort of poster I want to be. I dream of champagne and chauffeured rides in my own Rolls Royce as a poster but metaphorically speaking I usually end up quafing beer and watching roller derby on the rented telly.

Funny that. I am drinking a 'summertime wheat' at this very moment.
I'm having an "Oberon". It's a Michigan beer that we can only get during the summer months. Kinda expensive....but the best! It's made by Bell's Brewery in Kalamazoo.

(Shrug) I'm not surprised. I selected Cicero as a semi-permanent nic sometime in the late 1990s on a forums system that went belly-up around 2011. When I migrated to PJ I kept it because it irritated me less than the other nics I'd used in the past; one of which was Hauteur.

I understand there's a Cicero posting in most other forum systems as well; but I'm not them . . .

Hello Jen, and yes, of course, I remember you with fondness. I should hope that at least I recall my fellow moderators. Those were interesting times, eh? I'll PM you with the address of my alternative posting digs.

Thanks for the information about the Alerts. I think I will be hanging in here for a while just to see if I can get comfortable with this posting format. I don't necessarily like new and different but since that's the nature of life in this nation I find it's best not to go out of my way to avoid it either. Sort of like facing a swim in ice water. It's best to just plunge in and then swim like hell for the bank on the opposite side.

Yep, I realized just the other day that in my new old digs (old, new digs?) that everybody knew my name and knew what I was going to post about and that I knew the same things about them.

Here however -- even with posters who think they know me -- well they knew me long ago, and I've changed a bit over the years as a poster. I won't venture to speculate whether these have been positive or negative changes, though. But best of all I have absolutely no idea what a fellow poster might deliver unto me one PJ, even if the name is familiar.

So in posting, change is better than too much of the same ol' same ol'. Or at least that's the working theory . . . o_O
