Family Research Council exec outed as child molester; Huckabee defends him

Another black eye for the conservatives....

Washington (CNN) Mike Huckabee is standing by the Duggar family following the admission by eldest son Joshua Duggar that he committed "inexcusable" actions as a teenager, amid a shocking report outlining multiple allegations of child molestation against him.
"Josh's actions when he was an underage teen are as he described them himself, 'inexcusable,' but that doesn't mean 'unforgivable,'" Huckabee wrote in a Facebook post. "He and his family dealt with it and were honest and open about it with the victims and the authorities. No purpose whatsoever is served by those who are now trying to discredit Josh or his family by sensationalizing the story."

Huckabee said that "good people make mistakes and do regrettable and even disgusting things," and accused those who revealed the allegations of "insensitive bloodthirst," and said Josh Duggar had redeemed himself in living a "responsible and circumspect life as an adult."
A police report published by In Touch magazine on Thursday night outlined multiple allegations of child molestation by Josh Duggar, now 27, against underage girls that happened when he was 14 and 15 years old, and were reported to the Springdale police when he was 18.

His admission could become a significant headache for Republican presidential contenders, many of whom have been outspoken supporters of the Christian conservative family in the past, and have received campaign support from the family.
Late last night, Duggar also resigned as head of the lobbying arm of the conservative Family Research Council, a decision President Tony Perkins said in a statement was the "best decision for Josh and his family at this time." He also emphasized that the molestation allegations were "previously unknown" to the organization.

"Unforgivable" as long as you're a Republican.
Sssh!

Huck sez that, if you talk about this, you have "insensitive bloodthirst."

We can rest assured that Huck would say the same thing if the guy was the exec of a left wing group, no?

;-)

Maybe Huck would say...

"No purpose whatsoever is served by those who are now trying to discredit this Boy Scout leader or his family by sensationalizing the story."

"Good people make mistakes and do regrettable and even disgusting things. Those who reveal such allegations are guilty of insensitive bloodthirst."

No?

Worse, imagine if he belonged to a Liberal family. There would be 10 top posts on this subject already.

He was 14/15 yrs old. Like Huckabee said....people do awful things sometimes. Duggard was a young teen and made a mistake. Has he ever been accused of it since then? He did something stupid when he was a kid, he admitted to it, and if he's a Christian I'm sure he's asked for forgiveness. Whether any of you forgive him or not, means nothing. As long as he knows God has forgiven him, that's all that matters.

I'm not supporting a pedophile...I'm supporting someone that made a mistake and as far as I can see, has remorse for it. Has anyone here NEVER done something when they were kids that they're sorry for now??

He was a young teen at that time...most likely NOT a Christian then. People change...just because someone does something like this as a kid, it doesn't mean they're going to grow up to be a pedophile. Unless someone comes forward and says he did this to them since, I'm going to believe he's telling the truth. WWJD.

He was a serial "mistake maker", Caroljo.
He didn't just come out and confess this. The info was gained through a Freedom of Information Act request and only THEN did the family talk about it. And the way they talked about it.....Josh has asked Christ to forgive him...Josh has apologized to the girls.....Josh is doing well now. ...the family bore their ideal and it drew them closer to God. It's all about them and how hard Josh's "mistakes" were on him and his parents. Not much about the victims, the possible lifelong affects the sexual abuse could have on them, or the fact that Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar's poor decisions regarding how to handle the matter led to Josh making more of the same "mistakes".
Josh didn't go to therapy like the family claims. He went to a Christian camp group and then did it again after ward.
After he made the "mistake" a few times, his parents sent him to a family friend who gave him what he (Josh Duggar) describes as a "stern talking to". The discussion, according to Josh was all about how he could ruin his life...Again, nothing about the victims' lives. That family friend is now serving 56 years for child porn.

Even if the Duggars couldn't bring themselves to turn Josh in, there was plenty they could have done after the first time to ensure that he didn't have access to girls while getting REAL help. But chances are they were too busy publicly condemning the choices of consenting adults instead of properly supervising their family. Their reaction was all about keeping it hush-hush for image sake. We love to talk about parents who don't properly supervise their kids or teach them respect, but this kind of repeated known behavior from a kid isn't a reflection on the parents?

As for Huckabee, this guy blathers on about how disgraceful it is for pregnant, unmarried women to get all dressed up and be out in public "glamorizing" their unwed pregnancies. But he calls other people bloodthirsty for being outraged that a couple who makes a fortune celebrating parenthood failed to curb their horny teenaged son from molesting his sisters and their friends?

TLC pulled their stupid show anyway. Good.

I'm pretty sure Jesus said don't worry about the splinter in your brother's eye when you have a beam in your own eye.
These people have a two story barn hanging out of their eyes and they collect huge paychecks gained by pumping themselves as the model of Christianity and condemning others..

The 'Family'(oh the irony) Research Council at its finest. I count at least 7 Republican presidential candidates.

And who's leading the way? None other than Reince Priebus, the chairman of the RNC.

You can't make this shit up. lol

I doubt any of the people in these pictures knew Josh Duggar did such a thing or that his parents covered it up. After all, it took a FOI request for the media to get the info. If we could tell everything about everyone just by meeting them, then none of us would ever be surprised to find out that sometimes people aren't who we think they are. But we all get that surprise at one time or another.

Maybe so, but Huckabee is still defending him after he was made aware of Duggar's transgressions.

How many more will defend him?

Or at the very least, condemn him?

My guess is zero. To Republicans, doing so would, in their minds, show weakness.
