Fantastic final round

between Jason Day and Jordan Spieth today at the PGA Championship. Jason, who played one hell of a tournament just a few weeks ago, suffering from Vertigo, and barely losing. Today he took the PGA by storm, and with a record setting 20 under par. And Jordan Spieth was also amazing, and displayed a remarkable grasp of sportsmanship, when he gave Jason a thumbs up over a great putt, and when he hugged him at the end. Two great names for PGA golf.

Yep. Couldn't be happier for Jason Day. What a great 4 rounds. It was his turn.

I didn't catch it, but it's nice to see that the PGA seemingly has some firepower once again after Tiger Woods' all-encompassing collapse.

Jason Day just sweetens the pot, but you already had:
  • The establishment of a new young phenom Jordan Spieth
  • An impending return of the biggest name in golf today, Rory Mcilroy
When I grew up in the late 80's and early 90's, there were always a ton of household names, such as:

Nick Faldo
Greg Norman
Ernie Els
Vijay Singh
Mark O'Meara
John Daly
Paul Azinger
Fred Couples
David Duval

Maybe I've just lost touch, or maybe Golf just isn't as loaded with big names as it used to be.

I used to play golf in the '80's, as well as enjoyed watching many of the greats. Many that you named are now on the Senior tour, although many still come over to the PGA as well. I missed the greats for a long time, until the new crop came up. I never cared for Tiger Woods, to me he was a poor sport, as well as spoiled. It was once said he would not show up at a tournament unless he was guaranteed $1 million win or lose. And i once saw him paired with Ernie Els at a tournament, and when someone heckled Ernie when he was into his forward swing, Tiger laughed because Ernie's shot went awry. At another tourney, Tiger hit an errant shot, and someone in the gallery laughed, and the officials escorted the man off the course. I've even seen fans give Tiger a better lie by picking up his ball and moving it.

Daly wasn't one of my favorites either. If he didn't do well, it was the course. But stick around, there's a new generation on the move.
