Earlier today a well known PJ member posted a link to “NewsBall”, which contains an alleged debunking of the Zimmerman car rescue story. Since my employer blocks access to “NewsBall” (as a “defamatory and offensive site”), and Wikipedia has never heard of it, I used the browser on my cell phone to get there.

    Here’s what I found –

    • The front page story is a plea for readers to “out” the identities of the Zimmerman jurors, so that NewsBall can profile them in public, and breach the longstanding media practice of juror confidentiality and protection.
    • A theory that Zimmerman was never charged for being a pedophile over the course of several decades
    • A mélange of other murder trials, plus the kind of arrest photos of the rich and famous you see everywhere
    • A feature editorial on “dissecting the minds of trolls and haters” (julie in ohio, independent in Wisconsin – you may want to check this out !!)
    ,
Bizarrely – there is no statement of ownership or identification of editorial staff for NewsBall – at least none is visible on my phone’s browser. Hilariously ironic, considering the up-front pleas to breach the confidentiality of jurors.

Know your sources, and judge accordingly.

Not sure why you felt the need to say the obvious that the Internet is the Internet. I look at all stories with suspicion if they are not backed by facts. That doesn't mean that on political boards we don't want to read the theories and judge for ourselves. How about the story of Trayvon and LEAN articles? Any thoughts.

Hell Fox News dispenses questionable "news" so you can't get away from it.

minotaur - i've been a consistent critic of conspiracy theories - whether its 9/11, obamas birth certificate, palin's "fake" pregnancy, etc. it doesn't surprise me that they (such theories) are now cropping up in ever more arcane events.
