And people without any training? You need zero safety training to purchase a gun. We aren't just talking about acts of violence, there are people that shouldn't have guns because they don't know what they are doing with them. It's a recipe for preventable accidents. But requiring people to get trained with also require revisions to the 2nd amendment.
I think people who buy guns already want to know how to usethem. Nobody wants to buy a Kimber paperweight.

They think they know how to use him, and then people get shot by accident, because their are gun owners out there who don't know sh*t about gun safety.
Accidents happen. If everybody in the US received gun safety training up to their eyeballs accidents would still happen.

So yours is still a gun banner message.

Try again. People fail driver license tests all the time, they can still try try again. If people can't operate a gun safely they have no business owning a gun.
That was just the lead in. The point of the issue is the second half of my post.

What if you make gun safety tests impossible to pass for some people?

Let's not be naive here. Let's not pretend that the very tests themselves won't become a political football.

How about people without parenting skills? Folks not being able to properly raise their kids is the source of a lot more trauma and carnage, but we don't require people to take parenting classes before they breed, do we? Because you don't get to put conditions like that on the exercise of a right.

What if you fail training? Then what?

What if training morphs into something unpassable by certain people?
And it will almost immediately.... that's why the gun banners want to make training and testing a requirement. Because they can't seem to get rid of the right, but just like we talked about with self-defense, they want to make it very, very, very hard (and very expensive) for you to exercise the right.

And that's another thing!

@ObamacareForever , what if gun banner politicians make gun training prohibitively expensive? I can just hear the battle cries now, "Gun owners should have to bear the weight of medical costs in America since it is extremely expensive to treat gunshot wounds." "We could help fund Obamacare with training fees."

No fukking way.

Ladies and gentlemen THAT is the real issue hear!

On freyasman's coat tails:

The real issue is not guns. The real issue is raising effed up kids. You can ban all the guns you want. You can turn your unicorn dream of a gunless society into reality but you are not addressing the real issue--raising kids--and that will perpetually bite you in the ass until you address it.

In a world where nobody has ever thought about making a thing called a "gun" Dylan Kliebold and Eric Harris would have stuffed bombs in their trench coats and would have killed at least as many kids. Adam Lanza would have walked down the hall throwing pipe bombs into the classrooms killing a LOT more kids than he actually did.

You people have to think about this shit!

The problem is not raising kids right! THAT is the issue. The guns, the mass shootings, that's the symptom not the problem. Stop addressing the symptom like you're doing something worthwhile and deal with the problem!
