Global Economic Outlook

Things may get a bit rocky ahead:

Orders for goods from U.S. factories tumbled more than expected in November, the fourth straight monthly decline, as the slowing global economy has hit the manufacturing sector.

New orders for manufactured goods were down 0.7% in November, the most recent data available, the Commerce Department said Tuesday.

Economists had forecast a 0.6% drop.

November's decline matched October's and came as key economies in Europe and Asia weakened in the fall.

Japan announced in November that it had fallen into recession and the Eurozone is teetering near one as well.

Factory orders are a key sign of future activity in the crucial manufacturing sector.

The report comes after a closely watched private sector indicator from the Institute for Supply Management on Friday showed the pace of expansion of manufacturing businesses slowed in December.

A separate ISM report on the service sector, released Tuesday, also showed slowing growth.

Since WWII, our American economy has driven the health of the rest of the world's economies, from the EU, to the Russia, to China, to the Saudis'. Finally, an American president (that would be Obama) pronounced that America would from here on out, base its fiscal decisions on what's best for America, rather than on what's best for everyone else.

The top-posted sniveling isn't accounting for the fact that the non-American world's economies might not always suit us. We - (left AND right) have been shouting, nee screeching, that we shouldn't be so wrapped up with policing the world. This is just one other example of the simple not seeming to understand that these sorts of changes come with costs.

Can you provide me with a link where President Obama announced "that America would from here on out, base its fiscal decisions on what's best for America, rather than on what's best for everyone else" and also show evidence that this is a radical departure from what all of his predecessors apparently did. Thanks.
