hang on to your 401K

How old are you that you never invested in the market before and don't know anything about it? And why are you so determined to start more threads announcing that? Don't you cringe at all when Bugsy does it? He's an old far and hasn't ever invested in stocks.

We've always known american style capitalism is unstable and cyclical like that. This is why socialism is always turned to, to bail out our version of capitalism. It is also of note that every time we do that, we redistribute more societal wealth upward.

Not planning to draw on my 401K for another 5 years. Just trying to figure out when is the best time to buy. Gonna wait at least 1 more day.
Right with you on this. Retiring with pension in 22 months. Hoping to leave the 401K alone and make it on the pension. Will have 5 years with pension alone before SS kicks in as well.

I'll be 62 in November. Hoping to retire at 64,live on cash reserves until I'm 67 then start drawing on my 401K,then start drawing SS at 70. That's the plan anyway.

Having the pension is the main reason my hubby and I can retire at 60. It seems like just yesterday we started saving for the day we could finally retire. Will admit it makes me nervous, but our financial advisor reassures us that there is no reason we can't do it in 22 months.

I don't know anyone who hasn't gotten nervous when that time came.
I think the fact that we have lost so many people we loved who either kept working when they could have retired or died young that it has changed our perspective on life in general, and how we are never promised tomorrow. Enjoy life while you can. We both have worked too hard and made so many sacrifices over the years to not have the chance to relax in the sunshine. ;)

Yes. Obsession with amassing wealth is a perversion of the gift of life itself. This is why we should not fawn over people with this affliction and why we should never turn the reins of power over to the afflicted.

Many have been waiting for a 'buy' market for a while. This may be it - but doubtful.

But, of course- as usual- the Socialist/Communist countries are on the sidelines. While the US and Israel- develop the vaccine.

I feel a bit lightheaded. Maybe you should drive.
past performance is not an indication of what will happen in the future. Looking at history to determine what should happen is a giant logical fallacy. You can't say GDP grew in 1991 so it has to grow in 2020 or 2009 or whenever. History is not what ends recessions.
Actually yes, it is. In fact, you can't say that it doesn't.
