If you’d read once and stop protecting Trump from criticism, you’d know that unlike other countries we aren’t prepared. Hospitals have been unable to diagnose sick people because lack of proper kits. Trump has dpent the last 2 yrs slashing gov Agencies responsible for handling this outbreak.

When Ebola hit the left changed their views on what should be done when Obama came out and said no travel bans or quarantines. The right said the opposite.

Now with Coronavirus everyone is taking their teams side which is basically the opposite of what happened during the ebola outbreak.

The other day Trump was about to take to the microphone to talk about coronavirus. I told my wife, before Trump or any president takes to the microphone they should write down exactly what they are going to do about the virus and put it in a folder on the desk and have all of the opposite party in the meeting and say: I have what I am going to do right here on my desk. How much money I am going to spend and exactly how we are going to combat this virus but before I read this to the American people I want to know what you would do. Then have the opposite party say exactly what they would do and how much they would budget.

Then I would read whats in the folder. That way if the opposite party says exactly the same thing they can't go off and spin it or take the opposite side.

In fact I would do this with every single issue.

The second I heard the president was going to speak about coronavirus I knew that no matter what he said (and we had no idea what he was going to say) the opposite party would say he did it wrong.

I disagree. Putting congress into the decision loop (and that is how congress would perceive this) to circumvent political gamesmanship is just trouble . The president's job is to deal with an epidemic professionally and reporting to congress the plan as formulated by the relevant health services and the results to date.

Quarantine is never the wrong way to go. You should always start with a quarantine and unwind it. Quarantines need not be absolute but that is how so many perceive them. Ebola outbreaks should have been quarantined by Obama and this Covid19 should have and was in a fashion quarantined by Trump. Trump did good and Obama did bad and got very lucky.

The difference being credibility. People believed Obama could handle the situation. No one in their right mind believes Trump administration has anywhere near the level competence to deal with the outbreak. Hence the levels of fear that are roiling markets.

It’s not just the Trump administration. Every country is unprepared. Big companies like Wal-Mart and Amazon that depend on just-in-time production are unprepared.
