What makes you think she caused Amazon to change plans?

Ummm because I said so.

Thursday, Cuomo blamed the shocking decision on socialist democratic darling Ocasio-Cortez and others like her.

"[A] small group [of] politicians put their own narrow political interests above their community – which poll after poll showed overwhelmingly supported bringing Amazon to Long Island City – the state's economic future and the best interests of the people of this state," Cuomo said publicly. "The New York State Senate has done tremendous damage. They should be held accountable for this lost economic opportunity."

That's Cuomo going against your girl you adore and worship.

GM paid more back than they got. So far foxconn has ONLY CONNED Wisconsin.
The U.S. government (AKA TAXPAYERS) lost $11.2 billion on its bailout of General Motors, according to a 2014 government report.

SO YOU ARE IGNORANT TO THE TOPIC.

I'm against governments in competition with subsidies to get business to move to my state vs yours. How about yours? How well did the deal go to get that factory from China in Wisconsin? Seems that Foxconn isn't going to hire quite the number of workers they'd planned...so not 13,000 workers...maybe 1,000 or so...still getting $3 billion in subsidies?

DAMN RIGHT! Who needs 27 billion dollars in tax money. When we are losing 2+ billion a year due to people fleeing the state.

Well, I must admit. I was stupid enough to think we would have that 3 billion to give to teachers blah blah blah.

Doh !!!!!

That was just the break they were going to get over 10 years.

I better shine up that Economics degree I have from Boston College lol

In the coming progressive Utopia where farting cows and air travel are a distant memory, jobs will not be necessary. No municipality anywhere on earth needs 25k new jobs, it's crazy talk.

I feel a bit lightheaded. Maybe you should drive.

So does it make sense to you that a city & state that have implemented tax policies that are driving rational producers away turn around and give billionaires a waiver to those tax policies in an effort to create more tax slaves in order to keep their welfare state Ponzi schemes afloat? It doesn't to me...

What rational producer has been driven away?

It makes absolutely no sense to not have a business create 25k jobs because the guy who runs it wants a break on taxes for doing business in your city.

Actually, yes, it does. Bezos is the richest man in the world. On what planet does it make sense to grant him tax relief for ANY reason?

And it makes sense to Marxist progressives for sure, to grant such tax relief to Bezos in order to get 25,000 more tax slaves to keep their welfare state afloat, at least until they are out of office.

https://thehill.com/opinion/finance/429623-americans-continue-their-march-to-low-tax-states

The idea that this is going to reverse the tax migration from high tax jurisdictions to low tax jurisdictions is absurd.

But it sure shouldn't make sense to rational conservatives/libertarians...

NY is Losing 2 billion a year in taxpayers fleeing the state due to my favorite socialist confiscatory taxes. Woot Woot.

25000 Jobs, 25000 tax payers and another 40000 jobs (taxpayers) due to construction, support, residual business.

65000 more taxpayers in NYC.
All for a 10% discount in taxes for 27 Billion plus in the end.

No wonder my jealous communist socialist liberal base doesn't get it - Guess they are as dumb as me ! woot woot !

Republicans are vehemently opposed to welfare, unless it's going to $Billionaires that have no need of it.

I've asked before.
I'll ask again.
For those that think $3 $Billion in corporate welfare is not excessive; please inform us all.
At what point would it be excessive?

If $3 $Billion isn't too much, is $10 $Billion too much?
If $10 Billion isn't too much, is $100 $Billion too much?
At what point do we shrug and say: we want the jobs, but that's simply too expensive.

GIVE US A $NUMBER !! How $much is too $much ?!

GM did not pay back the Government, the money they used to "pay back" the Government was from another TARP fund.

Wait Wait ! The Govt bailing out GM was fine.

Why ? Well because GM was 'forgiven' 11 billion of what they borrowed.

See, as an avowed socialist, profit is a dirty word.

But Amazon actually making a profit. Employing people and bringing 27 Billion in Tax $ to NYC. NO WE CAN'T HAVE THAT !!!!

Now if they said they were moving their HQ to NY. Would rob taxpayers of billions and cost the state 27 billion. Well then, we would be all for that !!

A 10% Discount over 10 years on the highest taxes in the country.
They were just getting the % to a normal rate. Instead of my gov't greed rate which I adore.

So maybe explain how they will make up the 27 Billion $ shortfall. When they are losing 2 Billion a year from wealthy people fleeing NY.

OH we can just raise taxes more on the middle class schlubs who can't get out.

Thank god my Liberal socialist brethren are so stupid they never care to negotiate any price on anything. I hope they remember this next time they buy a car or home.

New York State tax rates are set by legislative process, in Albany.

What Governor Cuomo and Mayor Deblasio did was to circumvent the will of the people.
Not some incidental, de minimus infraction. $Literally $Billions of $dollars were at issue.

And why? For 25,000 jobs?
For 25,000 costing $3 $Billion, that's a $cost to the $tax $payer of $120K per job.
That's quite likely over a year's salary on median, for the jobs on offer.

But I understand.
You don't mind $gifting $Billions to $Billionaires.
Perhaps someday if you ever study $fiscal $conservatism, and the fundamentals of ethical principle, you'll learn why this was a bad deal for New York.
