I truly fail to understand why the Dems would prefer Hillary....

to someone like Jim Webb. Not liberal enough? Afraid he's not well enough known? Any thoughts?

My thoughts are that he seems to be a democrat like democrats "used to be." Probably wouldn't stand a snowball's chance in hell against today's progressives. I would be interested in hearing what PJ's dems think about him.

You're probably right. The articles I have read about him say he is very careful not to say anything negative about the cankle.

Yeah, I could see today's progressives voting for Sanders if they lose Hillary...which they just might and should.

Webb is a decent Democrat...much like Evan Bayh or Sam Nunn of the past. But Democrats seem to prefer extremist Marxist deconstructionist nutcases, so grown ups aren't generally considered.
:-(
I remember the days of normal human family Democrats. The Gepharts and such. Those days are gone.

I know, and it's sad. My family on both sides were Democrats. What in the hell happened?

It is Hillary's turn.
It's only "fair" since Hillary was the heir apparent in 2008 and Obama came in and stole it from her.

That's the only thing I can think of. As a candidate she brings nothing to the table but a ton of chutzpah.

I hate to tell you but a lot of very conservative people will vote for Hillary. My brother is retired military and he is going to vote for her rather than vote for any of theslugs that the GOP is putting forth.

You are assuming that she will be nominated. I'm not so sure. She definitely shouldn't be nominated. Why are you dems so completely devoted to only this one candidate? Why aren't you considering the best person for the job, rather than a name and sex?

Sorry, but I cannot for the life of me imagine why anyone would support someone with so much baggage and no accomplishments.

Why do you assume he's just considering name and sex? Did he say that? I think what he said is something about the absurd clowncar of candidates the Republicans have in their basket-o-goodies.

The GOP hasn't put anyone forth yet.
A few have expressed in the job, but the GOP has yet to put anyone out there.

Because he's VP material in the Dem roster. Sure there more than likely are better Dems than Hillary but they're keeping their power dry. Besides it's still long way from election.

That's the only thing I can think of. As a candidate she brings nothing to the table but a ton of chutzpah.

To Hillary it appears to be that she sees the presidency as an entitlement that she some how deserves and has earned. Problem is that she has tons of baggage and a very long list of questionable behavior as well as numerous scandals weighing her down. The reason she avoids the press and media is quite obvious, she is ill prepared to answer the questions they will have for her. The Democrats desperately need a nominee that is almost the direct opposite of Hillary and they know it. Hillary must know she is in deep do do and that her chances diminish every single day. Now she is making speeches saying how trust must be restored and how trust is so very important. Trust is the one thing Hillary needs an education on as she has earned none and has even less. Nearly 60 % of Americans do not trust her and with numbers like that she will never be elected to the White House. Hillary is a far far left wing secular progressive racist socialist who has strong ties to Obama policy and agenda, I for one do not believe that the electorate wants four more years of the Obama failures and lies. What Hillary brings to the table is lacking seriously in integrity and honesty with even fewer accomplishments and about all she has to offer is a very large pile of corrupt cash and about 30,000 deleted e-mails as well as scandal after scandal. Hey, Hillary here is a tip for you, don't pee on my leg and tell me it is raining. The election is a long way off and time is not on Hillary's side. Hillary says she wants to be our champion, OK, then act like a champion, tell the truth, quit hiding and stonewalling, get some integrity and get honest. But the problem is that she knows she cannot do these things as she would incriminate herself and she would most assuredly go down in flames forever. Reason: she is a corrupt and dishonest politician who's self interests outweigh everything else, without exception.

With the nominee of Hillary, Democrats will have to continue their policy of attacking anyone that even wants to question her on anything she's done. They have done that with Obama by using the "racist" meme and that's gone on for 8 years now (having started before he was elected). I'm sure they are weary of that sort of thing and many Democratic Talking Heads probably don't want to have to butt heads with the whole nation again. That tactic is wearing thin.

Hillary's feeling of entitlement will cause the Democrats problems. I don't believe they wanted her the last time and still don't want her, but this time they don't have a shining star to trot out there. I'm thinking they know their party is going to lose so Hillary will be their Bob Dole this time around.

HRC is a social and fiscal moderate and a bit hawkish on defense/national security/foreign policy. That's why I supported her in 2008 and now. Even if you can say the same about Webb, and I don't know that you can,HRC is more electable in a nationwide general election. In either party, you can't talk about the POTUS election without looking at the "Path to 270" if you want to win the election. On the Dem side,in looking at our candidates,we have to look at who has the best chance of turning out or expanding the Obama coalition. He got 52.9% of the vote in 2008 and 51% of the vote in 2012. The last Democrat to do better than that in any year was LBJ in 1964.

As FLOTUS for 8 years,US Senator for 8 years and Sec. Of State for 4 years,HRC is qualified. She is at least as equally qualified as Sanders,Webb,O'Malley and Warren. Warren isn't running. Sanders,Webb and O'Malley have to make a case that they have a better or as good path to 270 as HRC. I don't think they can.

Rated your post a winner because it is a good topic.

YEAH!

All of those folks who are SOOOooo "conservative" they have already decided they will vote for a dem who is not even nominated over ANY republican who has not even been nominated yet will, I have NO doubt.

But, then again, anyone with political/social views anywhere to the right of you on any issue is "conservative" in your mind so your statement is probably accurate.

As defined by YOU.

No idea what the appeal of Hillary is....it's truly baffling.

Jim Webb would be a formidable candidate.
