Most importantly, I don't think simple possession of drugs should result in any prison sentence, ever. That, alone, would probably empty half of our prisons in one day.

I question the need for non-violent offenders to be imprisoned along with hard-core, violent criminals in the first place. There's absolutely nothing to be gained by doing that, not for the prisoner, and not for society. There has to be a better way to deal with those who steal a loaf of bread or even a whole bakery.. or smoke a joint... or jaywalk... LOL.... as long as it's a victimless crime and no one got hurt by it. And just to pre-empt any remarks like 'there's always a victim' I say bah. Punish them some other way... make them paint a building, pick up garbage on the side of the road, bale hay, make them do community service for 20 years or whatever fits the crime... but putting them in a cage with murderers, rapists, and child abusers doesn't serve anyone or anything.

I don't know what is, but apparently, some people smarter than myself are working on it... and I sincerely hope they reach a humane, sane, practical solution.

I know, I know, lefties... you hate Kushner, but read the article, he's dedicated and he cares about this issue, even if it is for personal reasons. Take it... those prisoners need all the help they can get.

Kushner is especially sensitive about people being sent to prison.

I know. I read the article, it's right there... what's your snarky remark supposed to do? Got any thoughts on the TP at all, or is snark all you've got?

I’m sure you know I support such prison reform. It’s common sense stuff that’s been resisted by the right wing for decades.

It’s nice to see Kushner on board. Even if it is for selfish reasons.

I can't say... :p the funny part is the timing re: Kushner's push for reform. He has dealt with it personally though.
    ---------------------

Prison and sentencing reform is a personal issue for Kushner. His dad served 14 months of a 24-month sentence in Alabama for tax evasion and other crimes, and the rest of the time he was in a New Jersey halfway house.

According to ABC News, Kushner “traveled frequently to Montgomery, Alabama, on weekends to visit his father behind bars.”

Imagine that, a kid visits a parent in prison...……..bet the millions of lil' kids wish they could do the same, if they know who their parent is.

Why isn't Sharpton that owes $Millions in taxes in prison, does he have any kids that could visit? Manafort may be going for owing less!

Well, we might not see exactly what is depicted on the meme... but we will probably see some variation on it if justice is served.

As long as Hillary and her cronies run free, there is no justice in the world, just applies to the peasant class. As a democrat, you should be well aware of that.

Trying to find Hillary guilty of something is a recurring theme... all of the phony charges, costly hearings, have been for naught. You should be well aware of that.

it would be far better to put those in prison to hard labor instead of giving them cable tv and other nice things. Make prison so awful that no one would ever want to go back
