Hendrix is from 'round here of course, so people of my "certain age" have an affinity. IMHO, he was far and away THE most phenomenal guitarist who ever lived and who'll probably ever live. I guess the closest talent I can equate him with, might be "Secretariat", who's generally acknowledged among "horsedom" as a "freak of nature", against whom it's unfair to compare any other horse.
But...what was really striking about Hendrix - beyond his supernatural talent - was his personal affect. Anyone who remembers listening to Jackie Kennedy for the first time, and listening to Jimi Hendrix just talk, for the first time, knows what I mean.
