Happy birthday President Davis. I have a visit to Jefferson Davis Memorial State Park in Georgia planned for later this month. Currently looking for a photo quality print of my avatar, suitable for framing.

    I love Alabama.

*Jefferson Davis – the president of the Confederate states from 1861-1865 – was born on June 3, 1808. Alabama marks that occasion every year with an official state holiday.

The first Monday in June is celebrated as Jefferson Davis’ birthday in the state. This year, the official holiday falls on Davis’ actual birthday."

I've visited many of the battlefields in Virginia, but nothing in Georgia except the 8th Army Air Force museum in Savannah.

I'll add that monument to my bucket list.

Then I won't post any pics of it and spoil it for you. I was there by myself on a Saturday morning and one family of 4 showed up right before I was leaving. The employee on duty that morning said there were plans to remodel and revamp the little museum there. That was a little less than 2 years ago. I hope to be able to go back some day.

Yes I have seen that but it's always interesting. I have done quite a bit of reading on Chickamauga and visited it twice. I have a friend too whose particular interest is medical care in the Civil War who was on the last trip to Chickamauga. A miracle that he survived. $40.00/month pension was pretty good in those days.

It's going to be a sad day when the Democrats tear that statue down and piss on his grave.
