The Trump cultist view.,.

Sure, they were deemed an enemy of the nation and international criminals before the 2016 election, but their crimes helped get Trump elected!

All is forgiven! All hail WikiLeaks!

;-)
Since when do “our intelligence agencies” have the prerogative of declaring a member of the media an “enemy of the nation”?

a guy who was under surveillance, hanging out with Russians, behaving like a criminal.Hardly "spying"
You say hanging out with Russians is “behaving like a criminal,” others may say it is hanging out with Mexicans ... or Israelis ... or Chinese ... or Kenyans ... is that a road we want to start going down?

Come on you know better, we are going to disagree on this.Colluding with a foreign government to influence an election, is worthy of surveillance.Enough said

No one has yet proved any American did so. Much less had it proved when the warrant on Page was issued.

Sensible people knew it was only a matter of time...
  • Things seem to be moving quickly now. It has been a remarkable few weeks in American history. Momentum is building toward uncovering the distasteful possibilitythat the targeting of a U.S. presidential campaign was actually a political operation, fostered at the highest levels of government, masquerading as an FBI counterintelligence investigation.
  • Attorney General William Barr has signaled that his interest in examining the origins of the investigation into the Trump campaign extends beyond whether the FBI operated "by the book," as former FBI Director James Comey asserts. Barr also wants to understand the role that the larger intelligence community, or IC, may have played in all of this.
  • Barr has thrown punches that have left an interesting mix of characters with a standing eight count. Certain eyes around D.C. are a little glassy right now.
  • Barr's words and actions are telling. First, he raised the concern that the Trump campaign was "spied" upon. His use of the word "spying" appears more calculated than casual. The wailing and gnashing of teeth that followed is also telling. "The FBI doesn't spy" became the sputtering counter-refrain of those trying to mask their nervousness.

Let the shit hit the fan. The fact remains that Russia interfered in our election and continues to do it despite the handjob Trump gave Putin in Helsinki. If the Trump administration abuses their power, a lot of people will eventually end up in jail. I think Barr is smart enough to avoid jail, but anything can happen.

How do you think they'll "abuse their power"? Think they'll use FBI informants to imbed themselves in the campaigns of their political enemies? Think they'll use political dirt based out of Russia as an excuse to wiretap their political enemies? Think they'll start counterintelligence investigations against their political enemies? Just imagine all they could do. The possibilities are almost endless!

so You are okay with your hero calling out to a organization deemed by U.S. Intelligence agencies as an enemy?????
Write a sentence that makes sense by specifying who the hell and what the hell you're talking about and I might just waste some more of my time

In what manner? Anything even approaching this?

Ted Kennedy's Soviet Gambit

.....in 1991 Tim Sebastian, a reporter for the London Times, came across an arresting memorandum. Composed in 1983 by Victor Chebrikov, the top man at the KGB, the memorandum was addressed to Yuri Andropov, the top man in the entire USSR. The subject: Sen. Edward Kennedy.

"On 9-10 May of this year," the May 14 memorandum explained, "Sen. Edward Kennedy's close friend and trusted confidant [John] Tunney was in Moscow." (Tunney was Kennedy's law school roommate and a former Democratic senator from California.) "The senator charged Tunney to convey the following message, through confidential contacts, to the General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, Y. Andropov."

Kennedy's message was simple. He proposed an unabashed quid pro quo. Kennedy would lend Andropov a hand in dealing with President Reagan. In return, the Soviet leader would lend the Democratic Party a hand in challenging Reagan in the 1984 presidential election.

Kennedy made Andropov a couple of specific offers.

First he offered to visit Moscow. "The main purpose of the meeting, according to the senator, would be to arm Soviet officials with explanations regarding problems of nuclear disarmament so they may be better prepared and more convincing during appearances in the USA." Kennedy would help the Soviets deal with Reagan by telling them how to brush up their propaganda.

Then he offered to make it possible for Andropov to sit down for a few interviews on American television. "A direct appeal ... to the American people will, without a doubt, attract a great deal of attention and interest in the country. ... If the proposal is recognized as worthy, then Kennedy and his friends will bring about suitable steps to have representatives of the largest television companies in the USA contact Y.V. Andropov for an invitation to Moscow for the interviews. ... The senator underlined the importance that this initiative should be seen as coming from the American side."

Kennedy would make certain the networks gave Andropov air time--and that they rigged the arrangement to look like honest journalism.

So little feller....why don't you tell us all about the hand job Trump gave Putin in Helsinki?

Yet Yates told Trump point blank that he had violated the law and Trump kept him in office for another couple weeks.
Really.... The message, delivered by Sally Q. Yates and a senior career national security official to the White House counsel, was prompted by concerns that Flynn, when asked about his calls and texts with the Russian diplomat, had told Vice President-elect Mike Pence and others that he had not discussed the Obama administration sanctions on Russia.

Son of a gun......I didn't know that a White House official lying to another another White House official was against the law? I would think it would get him fired.....which it did.

It’s not. I’m sure it’s a regular occurrence in the Trump White House.

But Yates’ point was that Flynn was lying, and the Kremlin knew he was lying, making our National Security Adviser an easy target for blackmail. Flynn was obviously compromised.

Patriots care about such things.

See? This is why I think you're so misguided in your politics. You only see what you want to see. You're not alone; there are a handful of TCSers on this forum who do exactly the same then run around claiming your misperceptions as truth.

Example. You replied "How do you think they'll "abuse their power"? "

Whereas what I actually posted was this:

So you think everything done during the Cold War is the same as being done today? Are you declaring Ronald Reagan a failure? Do you think Putin is still a Totalitarian Socialist? That the USSR still exists?
