MIT may have cracked the case on fake news.

Anyone on this forum should be able to tell fake news stories almost exclusively show up coming from the right. Snopes is a word most poster here only know because it is, and sadly has to be, used so often to debunk any fake news story that have spread like gangbusters on the among conservatives. You might have also noticed the number of conservatives who flat out tell you they don't get their information from the mainstream media.

MIT researched how news and information is spread on the internet.

It ended up looking like this.

That big red cluster you see at the top are Trump supporters.

What they notice is that they are almost completely cut off from everyone else.

They are cut off because they basically only talk to, and get their information from, each other. The white flashing you see within the elongated shape that makes up everyone else is the mainstream media. It's not flashing within that Trump clusters because it is not where they get their news from online.

Now if you consider the mainstream media as a kind of guard or filter against fake stories being injected into the public conversation. Then that Trump cluster is a wide open and unprotected population when it comes to the kinds of total bullsh*t information that would never withstand investigation by legitimate media. This cut off and isolated population is without a doubt fertile ground for any outside entity, at home or abroad, who would seek to use fake news to fulfill an agenda or accomplish a political goal.

Anyone with a brain should know that with common sense.
What is so dangerous is that now we have a president who deliberately tries to keep this group separated, and more easily influenced by fake news, by telling them the legitimate media is lying to them.
