The first example is OBVIOUS.
Mitt helped push Romneycare which was the state model for Obamacare. He has now repudiated the child that he helped engender. And yet he still claims to be a successful governor. This is hard evidence that Mitt Romney is a spineless milquetoast.
The second example is more speculative but I think that it is accurate.
After President Obama gave the go-ahead for the Navy Seal operation in which Osama bin-Laden was killed, Romney jumped in and said that it was an easy decision and he would have done the same thing. That is easy to say and is what I would expect from a spineless milquetoast. In fact, many of Obama's advisors advised the President to play it safe and not do the sort of operation that the Seals carried out. They thought that it was too risky. The President took the risk and the Seals - to their great credit - accomplished the mission. But there were no guarantees. Both the Seals and the President took risks. Based on his record (rather than his rhetoric), Mitt the milquetoast would have played it safe and Osama bin-Laden would still be walking the earth (as was the case with GWB.)
What it comes down to is that Mitt really only is good at two things - doing leveraged buyouts and firing people. (And I suspect that when he fires people, the milquetoast has other people take care of the unpleasantness of doing the actual firing)
