You don't choose when you get sick or not. You just want the ability to choose to not pay for it. If you don't have health insurance it makes you a leech.
Interesting...........

So using that "logic", for lack of a better word, wouldn't that mean that;

If you get the benefit of having the same health insurance that others purchase for themselves but for less money because they also are funding part of your insurance payment AND are helping to fund ALL of still other's insurance,........... what does that make you?

You don't choose when you get hungry or need shelter. You just want the ability to choose to not pay for it. If you don't have food or housing it makes you a leech.

Shouldn't the government force everyone to buy food and houses or be fined? Doesn't matter if people thing they can afford to, at some point they will need it so make them. They can do without something else but force them to buy food and shelter. Do without a newer, nicer car, do without the latest cell phone, a big screen TV, cable, the latest felony flyer shoes etc. but by God make those leeches buy food and shelter.

No?

Insurance is he only good or service everyone should be forced to purchase? And only the types others decide you need too.

How very American..........

EVERYBODY GETS SICK. Allowing people to not buy insurance isn't preventing illness or decreasing demand for healthcare at all. Allowing people to not buy insurance is just allowing them to not pay for services they receive.
They will use healthcare regardless of having insurance or not. People who don't have insurance will just declare bankruptcy to avoid paying their medical bills. The uninsured don't skip out of getting healthcare they just skip out on paying.
If you want to do away with the individual mandate there is a way. If you make medical debts unable to be discharged in bankruptcy and those debts follow them to their kids after people die, then you will be able to do away with the individual mandate.

What does allowing people to wait until they need health insurance before buying it do?

I know my house being in flames currently could be considered a pre-existing condition but by GAWD my gubment says you insurance bas tards HAVE to sell me a policy.

Again, VERY American.

Your analogy is incredibly hard to follow.
I realize insurance is expensive for a lot of people. Which is why there is help for those that need it(tax credits).
People have a lot more choice in food and shelter than when they do in when and how they will get sick.
People can't afford to get sick. They do, there is no way around it. Premiums are merely a payment mechanism. If you want healthcare costs to go down people need to be to healthier. Providing the option to not pay for services they don't think they will need doesn't do that.

But FORCING them to pay for services YOU think they will need PLUS some you KNOW they will not does?

How?

People now who have healthcare coverage can't use it because they can't afford the cost of healthcare.

When people who don't have insurance get sick/injured then still go to the doctor and then proceed to declare bankruptcy. The doctor gets stiffed by the patient. The doctor doesn't just eat the cost. He passes those costs along to all the other paying (insured) customers. By forcing people to take responsibility for their own healthcare costs and get insurance it keeps costs lower for responsible paying customers i.e. the insured.
