If world peace begins in the Jordan Valley, learning to separate history from mythology and politics from propaganda is ground zero. This list in reverse chronological order of all Jews and Palestinians killed since 2000 in the "Holy Land" is relevant today and will become even more so the next time Israel decides to "mow the lawn" in Gaza.

It probably was the British but when we were learning geog and history in school in the '50s '60s and also as my parents and grandparents ( both far more knowledgeable of the world than we are now) spoke of those parts there was the Far East, Near East and Middle East - and my grandparents also remembered the Ottomans and spoke of the areas in connection with them also - So they are understood geographical areas as opposed to national divides or lines on the map - they were understood in connection with Britain and European Empires on the trading map I suppose.
