How exactly did he lose face? The Administration wants them to get rid of their nuclear program, they don't want to....... would you rather he got a deal for the sake of having a deal like the Iran Deal?

With the North Koreans? The people who cheated on the sainted "Agreed Framework", said it would dismantle their program in 2005, set one off in 2006.

If Donald flies off the handle, it will be for not getting the Nobel he was promised; everything Donald does is to try to match or one-up Obama, whom he knows in his heart of hearts is vastly superior to him. Poor Donnie.

Removing all partisanship from this discussion there are so many things at play here that could be rolling along behind the scenes (I will list only a few):
1) Kim is under pressure at home (he possibly wanted to be shown now emancipating/helping his people as a way out of his situation).
2) Traditional hardliners back in NK have made him feel an additional (new) threat from inside.
3) The China meeting he had was a reset. It is likely that they don't want to lose NK as a bargaining chip and a free/trading NK would (in the future) possibly reunify with SK, become closer to USA in trade/co-operation and China is already cagey about Western Interests in their sphere.
4) Kim (and the hardliners) look at the Libya experience (albeit under Obama) and worry that may be their final future (dead in back of a truck).
5) We have our own folks (either party or in the military complex/shadows) that aren't too interested in changing the status quo.
Hell, who knows?
This is a negotiation/positioning exercise at this point. I hope something good happens for all involved, but I won't hold my breath waiting for the white dove of peace to show up.

The Agreed Framework was voided in 2001 when the Bush administration stopped honoring its obligations under it.

Yes, peace in Korea would be a good thing whether the N. Koreans give up their deterrent or not. Regardless, he never said they wouldn't give up their nuclear weapons. He said he wasn't going to discuss giving up nuclear weapons if that was the only thing to be discussed and N. Korea got nothing in return.

because any discussion of it by the left is (as most things) void of reality.That is not what happened. They were cheating on it the whole time, Bush Administration called them on it, they walked.
