Realistically, the Democratic race is a 4 way race. Beto is done. Buttigieg is raising a lot of money but stuck at 7-8% in the polls. Right now the race is Biden/Warren/Harris/Bernie. Ima be straight up right now. If the election were held today and the Dem candidate was anyone but Biden among those 4,I would sit this one out. I cannot support Elizabeth Warren or Bernie Sanders. Kamala Harris was my 2nd choice but she took herself off my list last month. Not sure there is anything she can do to get back on it.
Republicans threw away their purity test in 2016. Some resisted for awhile after the election and some hesitantly let go of it before the election, but Republicans and conservatives are mostly on board now. The pastors at the church I attend are solidly in Trump's corner. The folks who voted for Trump in 2016 are still on board and will be there in November next year. The only question is how many more he can pick up. I would add that the signal sent from Florida in November last year is a very good sign for Republicans.
My party has responded, apparently, by making it's purity test harder to pass and I can hardly bear watching it right now. Also, apparently, older white and maybe older black moderate/conservative Democrats who have voted in every election since they turned 18, like myself, don't pass the test. I don't just hang out in PJ. I hang out in a couple other mostly left-leaning sites. There the progressive left complains of Biden not exciting "the base". The progressive left has proclaimed itself to be "the base" and the rest of us should just get in line. I got news for 'em. They have a voice and a vote but they don't have the final say for the rest of us. There is a big generational divide in the Democratic electorate and the current signs point to the next election ripping it apart. We could see the return of "Reagan Democrats" as "Trump Democrats" especially if the economy keeps rolling along. Ima be straight up about another thing. Ima 'bout out of give a f**ks too.
There! I've said it. Sorry for the long post. I normally don't do this.
You're welcome Republicans. After the last election, I "got over it" quick. I ate my crow, congratulated the folks on the right and moved on. Won't be hard to do it again if need be.
