One huge thing missing from the pandemic response - quarantine centers

Quarantine centers for those who test positive, but need not be hospitalized. Such people presently have no choice but to go back home and infect others. If each diagnosed person goes home and infects two or more people - people he/she lives with or others - the infection curve will never be bent downward.

This is especially a problem in places like the poor areas of NYC, where people live right on top of each other, most in small apartments within apartment buildings.

If such people had the option of going to a quarantine center to be with other infected people, with limited medical services and food, most would likely do so. People don’t want to go home and infect their family and others. But they have no choice.

Getting such quarantine centers up and running would seem easy relative to the other challenges - structures like hotels or dorms could be used - even large tents would do.

Anybody familiar with dense housing patterns like NYC knows we are kidding ourselves if we think we’re going to bend the infection curve downward without quarantine centers.

Agreed?
