I'm referring to a specific poll indicating that 40% of white Americans support the BLM movement.
http://www.pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2016/07/08/how-americans-view-the-black-lives-matter-movement/

26% of white Americans are Democrats.
http://www.gallup.com/poll/160373/democrats-racially-diverse-republicans-mostly-white.aspx

So plenty of white Americans who are not Democrats, such as myself, support BLM.
No REAL American is going to support any racist organization that claims only the lives of one race or ethnic group matters, to the exclusion of all the rest. So the 40% is either seriously exaggerated or the poll was taken at the DNC.

I agree with you in theory. On a practical level, there are a lot of self loathing Whites in this country.

One cannot say that only Whites matter, but America was founded by Whites; our system of jurisprudence based upon Anglo Saxon law; our moral tenets based largely upon Christianity; our cultural heritage based upon Whites. To try and hide it, push it into oblivion or suppress it because only Black Lives Matter make for a very divided nation.

Everybody is expected to assimilate. BLM seems to want ultimate power and nothing else. I could be wrong... but if it's any different than that, we will see the BLM people articulate their position better - maybe even on this thread?

But it's a sorry human being who gives in to that narrative, whatever race or ethnicity it may be.

Black Lives Matter isn't about saying that the lives of only one race or ethnic group matters. It's about saying that NOT just the lives of one race (the white race) matters.

They want Black lives to matter TOO? More power to them.

MAYBE BLM would be better served not to pursue the agenda they do.

When they complain of being profiled - everybody gets profiled

When they say their people are gunned down by trigger happy Jack Booted Thugs in the street - they aren't the only ones

When BLM supporters think they are the only ones that can't get a fair shake in the courts - go talk to a right wing patriot

When they complain about prejudice, racism, and unfair treatment in the private sector - they should not feel like the Lone Ranger.

America has this unwritten litmus test to determine the worth of a White person. You must be wholly committed to the total integration of all races, colors, creeds, religions and beliefs - even at the expense of losing your own identity. IF you are emboldened enough to acknowledge that fact, you will immediately be stigmatized as a "racist" or worse and denied any voice in the discussion. We expect people to chant the mantra and failure to so is prima facie evidence that the individual is unworthy of any benefit, Right or privilege associated with being an American.

By contrast, some actually believe the BLM's public position (bearing in mind the politicians have taught us they have both a private and a public position.) Meanwhile...

In places like Chicago, the voting electorate - at every level is comprised of ... no secret... Black people.

Rahm Emmanuel - Mayor
Eddie Johnson - Chief of Police
Toni Preckwinkle - head of the County Commission

On and on it goes, yet nobody points out that you can't get an all black representation in any place that big unless... unless... No I won't utter it.

BLM and the rest of those guys can say what they want, but bottom line: if they would learn how to assimilate, they might find it easier to co-exist.

No. Not everybody gets profiled, and certainly not because of race. Blacks ARE gunned down in numbers that are disproportionate (twice as likely to be shot as a white person, 5 times as likely to be shot when unarmed as a white person). Blacks are treated unfairly in the courts REGARDLESS of ideology ... yes, it's unfair what they do to white dissenters (leftists more often but also rightists on occasion) too, but that doesn't change the fact that Blacks, and not whites, are targets because of their race. It doesn't change the fact that whites get advantaged in the private sector because of our race.

Well, yes, a large majority of Americans abhors racism and segregationism, and stigmatizes the open expression of racist values. Thanks to the activity of people like the ACLU, though, racists still have a legal right to express those odious values ... which doesn't mean that private individuals can't sanction them for doing so (by boycotting their businesses, for example).

By contrast, some actually believe the BLM's public position (bearing in mind the politicians have taught us they have both a private and a public position.)
I judge them by what they DO. And what they do is stand up against police brutality (mostly against Blacks, but also against Native Americans, whites, Latinos, etc.), and for social justice.

Rahm Emanuel isn't Black, genius.

Because it's the Blacks who created majority-minority cities by creating lily-white suburbs and engaged in systematic housing discrimination within those cities to prevent integration, right? You demand that if Blacks don't want to GET SHOT DOWN DEAD they have to "be wholly committed" to "total integration ... even at the expense of losing your own identity" yet you have the gall to complain about white racists not getting a fair shake from the courts?

"Black Lives Matters" is another way of saying "Stop Killing Black People with Impunity."
Why are they not in Chicago where black people are being killed with impunity every day?
Why do the Democrats and BLM only care about a black life that has been killed by a white cop?

Black people do NOT get profiled any more than any other race. That's a freaking lie. Due to ideology, people on the right are targeted more often.

Blacks are involved in more violent crime than any other race; therefore, your stats mean nothing. What would you like to see? Maybe Chinese people killed by police based upon their relative numbers as opposed to the violent crimes they are invovlved in?

You are funny. Racists wish the liberals and Blacks would boycott them.

Should be no problem. Change the name... ALL Lives Matter

B.S. He clearly identifies as nonwhite

Your reading comprehension is woefully lacking. I said EVERYBODY has become compelled to chant the mantra of equality. But, if Blacks stand up for their race, it is wholly acceptable. We do not make that allowance for anyone else.

And gall? How many times have you had YOUR life on the line in a court-room based solely upon what you believe in? And, with your very life on the line.
