Prediction re: terrorism in the homeland

Jen

Senator
Prediction: If there is a terrorist strike here in the USA before the end of Barack Hussein Obama's term as president, the first thing Obama will say is that it has taken him by complete surprise. He will say something to the effect that he didn't see it coming.

What say you?
Agree?
Disagree?

Let's verify your position right here, right now.
Bring it if you've got the guts.

Obama will probably say worse than that since any "terrorist" attack on his watch will happen during an election year; imagine 9/11/2001 happening on 9/11/2004?

It's possible (likely) such an attack will put a Republican in the White House. Do you think any US president will address this?

"According to the US State Department’s own numbers, incidents of terrorism have increased by 6,500% since the 'War on Terror' began in 2001.

"The centerpiece of the 'War on Terror' was the US war in Iraq, which is quickly turned to a hellscape of bloodshed, and gave birth to ISIS.

"The chaos in Iraq then destabilized Syria.

"The jihadists in Iraq then moved to Syria to exploit the chaos of the uprising against Assad."

He's a Washington politician so he'll have more excuses than a 5 year old caught with his hand in the cookie jar.

Regardless of what he says, the fact remains the Democrats will take a major political hit for pushing this solution rather than simply trying to provide aid to them over there and resolving the reason(s) why so many refugees are leaving Syria.

First, stop fantasizing about a terrorist attack on America. It's not becoming.

Second, if we do get attacked, of course he will say it's a surprise, because it would be a surprise.

Or are you crazy enough to think he might know an attack is coming, and just let it happen?

You know it, Max.
I do believe that those I mentioned will be the first two.

Libs agree with me because all they can do here is stutter and change the subject.

Ooooof. I feel like this is some softball low hanging fruit.

What if said attacks were preceded by intelligence suggesting same were imminent. Like say...an attack in a,major European city....and then an attack happened..

Surprise?

Are you saying you think people knew the attack was coming and ignored it? Like, they knew the where and the when and the how but pretended they didn't?

Of course. WTF?

If one knows an attack is coming, it's not a surprise. If one does not know, it's a surprise.

A whole chapter of the 9/11 Commission report - "The System Was Blinking Red - is devoted to all the warnings that flooded our government in 2001 before the 9/11 attacks occurred (all of which were ignored). Even with that flurry of warnings, the 9/11 attacks must still be considered a surprise.

Ok.

We're all aware of paris.

We are also aware of varied stories of Syrian refugees in Barbados or wherever found, with fake passports. Isis' having informed that the Russian plane bombing was a secondary choice, they wanted a western target.

All considered... if an attack occurred here...would 'surprised' be the right assessment?

How's the system blinking today? All things considered?

There's a difference between an awareness that terrorism could happen, or that terrorists are saying it will happen, and ignoring specific credible threats, which is what the TP implied. What's worse than being aware that terrorism exists is to completely change who we are as a people in a futile effort to trade rights for security.

Hard to say. We don't know what kind of warnings our government is receiving, if any. But I do feel very confident that any warnings are not being ignored.
Huh? Isis supporters..zealots..or whatecer..kill 100 plus in Paris. Raids ongoing. Refugees, with fake passports in Barbados or wherever. Russian plane bombed..but intended for a western airline. Which of these is not a warning received?

None of them.

To get a sense of what warnings of an attack are, read The System Was Blinking Red. You're talking about enhanced worldwide awareness of the terrorist threat in a global sense; not actual warnings consisting of intel that the USA is about to be attacked.

They've been ignored in the past.
And Obama has been frequently "surprised" by things when most Americans saw those events coming.
He is consistently out of the loop.

What specific event did Americans see coming that Obama missed?

They were ignored in the past. The GWB administration broke all records in that regard when they ignored the blizzard of warnings that poured in prior to 9/11.

I have no idea what you're talking about when you say unidentified "most Americans" were less surprised by unidentified "things" you say Obama was surprised about, even though you cannot read his mind. Your statement is completely irrational - the product of blind hate, I suppose.
