Puerto Rico still desperate for help; Trump goes on anti-Puerto Rico Twitter tirade

The Federal Government is not some omnipotent being that can just arrive in force and make all your problems go away immediately. FEMA is only as good as local and State authorities, if those authorities are practically useless the recovery takes multiple times longer.

Puerto Rico is a poorly run Island State that happens to be a Territory of the United States, frankly speaking it's a shit hole with nice beaches and if not for the US it would be Haiti......maybe even worse.

Puerto Rico was "desperate" all during the Obama administration, too.

http://www.slate.com/articles/health_and_science/climate_desk/2017/09/half_of_puerto_rico_doesn_t_have_clean_drinking_water.html

in 2015 (see link) Slate pointed out that half of the island lacked safe drinking water. Just like so many rust belt inner cities in America.

It seems you haven't heard that they recently got whacked with two monstrous hurricanes. This has nothing to do with Obama.

All your yammering aside, Trump tells Texas and Florida the feds will be there for them as long as it takes. As to the most devastated of the three places - Puerto Rico - he tells them that the feds won't do that.

It all seems normal to you, eh?

What is being discussed is the steps necessary to put them back to where they were...that is what we'd do for any state or city hit by a disaster. PR has a tougher road to hoe because it is an island. People can't just obtain resources by driving to a nearby city that is not as badly damaged. At the very least the corps of engineers should be on site helping restore electricity and water.

Look at the effort put forward to help the Japanese when they were hit by the earthquake and Tsunami. The US military put enormous manpower into helping them.

You want people to believe that the military is not on the ground in Puerto Rico?

Did I say they were not there? What is being done is not enough.
You may as well have:

At the very least the corps of engineers should be on site helping restore electricity and water.

As if that is not happening.

Do you know that it is? I'm not sure exactly what our military is doing, but I do know there are about 4,000 military personnel there (according to Trump's last PR speech)....
If you had no clean water and no electricity now three weeks later...would you say enough was being done?

I did some checking. There are now 5,000 active duty military either on the island or off shore. It seems as though they are expending most of their effort in delivering supplies. Some effort is being put into putting the airport back in operation as engineers are there, but we could also be putting engineers into clearing the roads and putting the electrical infrastructure back in operation, but I don't find any information that we are doing that.

"What is being discussed is the steps necessary to put them back to where they were...that is what we'd do for any state or city hit by a disaster."

What real worth in trying to put them back to a half assed 1970's standard? Their infrastructure and electrical grid being in such piss poor condition is a major contributing factor in the abject ruin they find themselves in now.

"PR has a tougher road to hoe because it is an island."

Which would explain the difference in rebuilding times as well to anyone interested in anything than whimpering about Trump being a racist.

People can't just obtain resources by driving them there from other places like they can in Texas and Florida. Being an island it has to be accessed by sea or air. But guess what is directly impacted by a hurricane hitting an island, bugeye?

Wanna phone a friend? Poll the audience or something?

Ding, ding, ding! We have a winner!

Yep......Sea and air ports.

Rebuilding them in order to get supplies in to rebuild everything is gonna take longer. Anyone who has ever actually worked would know this, so being it is you, not knowing this is forgivable.

Since you don't seem to know shit...the military can land heavy vehicles on any beach...they don't need a port. They can airlift bulldozers and trucks from ships, using helicopters.

Much more could be done than is being done. We seem to have most of our soldiers involved in trying to deliver food and water than in rebuilding. That was my only point.

It's not so much it has to do with Obama. It has to do with Puerto Rico being a failed welfare state with a plethora of problems before the hurricanes. Their irresponsible spending and debt, while leaving their infrastructure to rot, has exacerbated the damage from the hurricanes.

Translation: No can do. I'll continue to just screech "Liar!" like a little girl.

;-)
Nice try. Let's start with your lie about "screeching" and your bogus quote "liar!" Screeching is a sound. I used no punctuation that would indicate anything but a statement. You obviously lied with your "liar!" lie.

It's easy to cite you lying. You do it constantly.

Translation: Yup. I can't come up with a real lie. Not one. How about this? I take your insulting rhetoric literally and pretend you were actually stating a fact? Sheesh, I'm really lame, huh?
