Instead of running its mouth why doesn't the UN pass a resolution authorizing goods and resources into Gaza. Surely the peace-loving Hamas leadership will do the right thing and take care of their people..

Why not?
I'd prefer a few napalm runs along the wire.

If the UN were worth anything they'd intervene and place themselves between the beligerents.

Why don't they?
Yeah, AFTER the two sides have made a peace agreement. Their job is to come in after the belligerents leave the battlefield. They are PEACEKEEPERS not military confrontation enders.

It's a military confrontation? I thought it was rocks and Molotov throen by kids and mom's?

Bullshit. These free thinking non compelled retches... Why aren't they throwing their rocks and bombs against Hamas then????
Because Hamas is not in control of Gaza's land borders, airspace, coastal waters, and population registry, and Israel was at least partially responsible for the creation of Hamas:

"Ahmed Yassin, the spiritual leader of the Islamist movement in Palestine, returning from Cairo in the seventies, established an Islamic charity association.

"Prime Minister Golda Meir, saw this as a an opportunity to counterbalance the rise of Arafat’s (secular) Fatah movement.

"According to the Israeli weekly Koteret Rashit (October 1987), 'The Islamic associations as well as the university had been supported and encouraged by the Israeli military authority' in charge of the (civilian) administration of the West Bank and Gaza."
