But that has nothing to do with whether the impeachment trial of the president should be converted into a trial of others.

If we are going to have a trial about this nothingburger, then I want to hear from Joe and Hunter Biden who are at the middle of this alleged investigation that Trump forced. Lets get it all out in the open.
Can the House or Senate impeach a member of the House or Senate? It might be time to get rid of the obstructionists like McConnell and Pelosi and there should be a rule that the person that starts an investigation that doesn't go anywhere gets removed also. At least then they will only bring an investigation that is real. Goes for both sides.
Right now the Democrats are affecting the next election with a nothingburger which of course was their goal.
I can't stand Trump and want him gone (although his policies seem to be effective). But I don't want him gone for a nothingburger because then future presidents will simply be impeached every time the opposite party has control of Congress. The bar has to be set high for impeachment.
