Shepard Smith Quits Fox News

Nutty Cortez

Dummy (D) NY
if Barr had anything to do with personel matters at a news station that is corruption, abuse of power, etc.
Really ? here was a President messing with a News Station.

President Obama met with influential progressives to talk about the importance of preventing a tax increase on middle class families, strengthening our economy and adopting a balanced approach to deficit reduction
HuffPost spotted several attendees on their way in just after 3 p.m., including MSNBC’s Maddow, Sharpton and Lawrence O’Donnell. Ed Schultz, also from MSNBC, tweeted a photo just outside of the West Wing. Arianna Huffington, president and editor-in-chief of The Huffington Post Media Group, was also in the meeting.

Shepard Smith, whose newscast on Fox News Channel seemed increasingly an outlier on a network dominated by supporters of President Trump, abruptly quit after working at Fox since it started in 1996.

Smith said at the end of his daily newscast on Friday that he had asked the network to let him out of his contract and it had agreed.

Even in the current polarized environment, Smith said “it’s my hope that the facts will win the day, that the facts will always matter and journalism and journalists will thrive.”

Neil Cavuto, who anchors the broadcast following Smith’s, looked shocked after the announcement.

“Whoa,” Cavuto said. “Like you, I’m a little stunned.”

Smith’s departure also comes one day after Attorney General William Barr met privately with media mogul Rupert Murdoch, founder of Fox News. President Trump has been increasingly critical of personalities on Fox News that he views as disloyal.

On his afternoon newscast, Smith had frequently given tough reports debunking statements made by Trump and his supporters — even the Fox News opinion hosts that rule the network’s prime-time lineup.

Two weeks ago, Smith clashed with Tucker Carlson when an analyst on Smith’s program, Andrew Napolitano, said that it was a crime for President Trump to solicit aid for his campaign from a foreign government, in this case the Ukraine. Later that night, Carlson asked his own analyst, Joseph diGenova, to comment and he called Napolitano a fool.

The next day, Smith said that “attacking our colleague who is here to offer legal assessments, on our air, in our work home, is repugnant.”
I actually met Shepard Smith in Kissimmee in 1992. He used to be with an Orlando news station. It was on Election Night at Republican headquarters. We were a little hosed at the idea a liar/rapist had just defeated a war hero.

Even back then, the liberal media was pretty much campaigning for the Edited. The room started yelling at him and his camera staff, calling them the liberal media and stuff. This got Smith's back up and he gave back. He was genuinely indignant at that. (The guy was young.)

I shook his hand and welcomed him to the event. He settled down and seemed like a genuinely likeable guy.

Years later when he was first with Fox and covering those idiots in New Orleans during Katrina, you could see that got-my-back-up side of him again. Some of those morons (you know, the idiots who were partying and wouldn't leave with a Category Five hurricane bearing down in them) had yelled some obscenities, (a few F bombs) which made it to the camera mikes.

Shep went off the prepared script and gave it back to those idiots: "Hey, you guys know you're on camera in front of the world, right?" The guy was for real, back in the day.

He was good in his anchor spot at Fox, these days. He helped maintain the balance that made Fox the number one news source of all time. He pissed off the conservatives while guys like Tucker Carleson pissed off the liberals. It was a good mix. Fox ALWAYS presented a good mix, as far as points of view go.

I hope he's successful in his new move, even as he was a vitriolic Trump hater. I can't hold that against him. There are envious Conservatives who never did anything who hate Trump because he accomplished so much and made it look easy.

There is no such thing a Trump TV. (Although it would be funny as hell if Trump were to buy MSNBC and turn it into a raging fair and balanced competitor to Fox.)

Here's the deal, edited. Fox presents all points of view, not just those of real Americans. That's why Fox leads in the ratings. It is fair and balanced. For idiots like you who only hear about Fox through Huffington Post sources, Fox is the home of the Never Trumper movement. These are the conservatives who had been promising great things for the past 30 years, who are now pissed off that this former donor to Democrats comes in and accomplishes everything in less than three years.

Yes, Trump inspires a lot of hate and dislike. Great men always do. Ronald Reagan, one of the nicest guys on camera, inspired left wing KKK rallies of hate. And he had been a Governor of a major state.

Imagine the sheer Edited hate from both sides of the aisle when this billionaire comes in, wins on the first try and manages to expand the economy to record levels in less than three years. Imagine the envy.

Mr Wallace should be Fired, He no kiss Mr Trump's ass like most Fox News people
Fox chooses on air personalities for their ability to attract an audience. The larger the audience, the more advertising a network can sell.

Rush Limbaugh, who is anything but equal time for left and right, attracts a huge audience and sells advertising time at what he calls "confiscatory rates."

Chris Wallace sometimes gets out of line. His father was the same way. He's a good fit for Fox, in that he's fair and balanced. And he understands the proper role of the journalist, as opposed to the low rated MSNBC hacks who would perform edited on Obama on camera if they could.

And so Barr had to go to Murdock and tell him to dump Smith. What a slime ball administration. Just what the right wing loves.

You think people on Fox get fired for not advocating Trump? What color is the sky in your world? They are on Fox all day long. Put down the Fake News kool-aid, you've had more than enough already

You read that on the National Enquirer by the story that Sarah Sanders had an alien baby?

I'd ask for a link, but we both know you don't have one ...

You really think Fox News, (the home of the Never Trumpers) would not report an attempt by Barr to do such a thing? Fox is so hungry for its superior ratings that it shows loyalty to any side of the aisle. Barr knows this. That's why he never did it. But hey, a edited can make all kinds of allegations when there is no actual proof required.

that is a president telling media his policy positions.

totally different than the attorney general meeting privately with the head of a news station.

if that had anything to do with Shep Smith that is a big problem.
