Why?

Well, for starters, it gave us one of our worst presidents. It's also arguably the epicenter of dysfunctional gun culture in this country, as well as a big focus of opposition to sensible anti-carbon-emission regulations. It's also in horrible shape sociologically -- lots of teen pregnancy, violence, incarceration, obesity, etc. And it has shockingly little to offer in terms of academics or high culture, for such a huge population.

That's not to say it's completely without its charms, though. The parts with high Hispanic population tend to have good food.
