Should Comey Go To Prison For Perjury?

It appears Comey was caught red handed in a lie yesterday. He stated he leaked his memo only in response to being fired on May 9.

"Today, Mr. Comey admitted that he unilaterally and surreptitiously made unauthorized disclosures to the press of privileged communications with the President.

"The leaks of this privileged information began no later than March 2017 when friends of Mr. Comey have stated he disclosed to them the conversations he had with the President during their January 27, 2017 dinner and February 14, 2017 White House meeting. Today, Mr. Comey admitted that he leaked to friends his purported memos of these privileged conversations, one of which he testified was classified. He also testified that immediately after he was terminated he authorized his friends to leak the contents of these memos to the press in order to "prompt the appointment of a special counsel."

"Although Mr. Comey testified he only leaked the memos in response to a tweet, the public record reveals that the New York Times was quoting from these memos the day before the referenced tweet, which belies Mr. Comey's excuse for this unauthorized disclosure of privileged information and appears to entirely retaliatory."

Comey had previously prosecuted and got Martha Stewart sent to prison for something no more serious than this lie that was intended to cover up seditious behavior by a known and documented political hack- Comey himself. Him being the director of the FBI makes this far more serious than anything Martha Stewart ever did.

I'm thinking a 5-year stretch sounds about right. The only question is, are Republicans smart and/or righteous enough to pursue this serious crime committed? Lucky for liberals, probably not.

I believe Comey will ultimately go to prison. Others might join him........ this is going to be a large round up of criminals before it's over with.

Sadly, I have to disagree. He's a club member. Membership has its benefits.

Do you really believe that lie that Trump's lawyer told?

It was quickly debunked. Even your propaganda minister Zerohedge acknowledged that....

Remember the rule - if it comes from Trump or his minions, it's false.

Things have gotten bad enough that that "Club" is going to have to offer someone up. I think it will be Comey.
That could be. Never thought of it that way. Thanks.

Facts do matter.
Is Comey's testimony truth or lie?

Trump's lawyer's story is irrelevant at this point. I'm not quoting it. I'm not even paying attention to it. Sorry that you are.

Comey himself admitted to leaking. That's a fact. Sorry you don't deal in facts, but facts matter.
Leaking? The "leaking" jive is a separate canard. The allegation of Trump lying here came from Trump's lawyer. Read the links.

He said he leaked it TO THE PRESS on that date. He didn't say that he hadn't talked with others about it.

This looks like the latest Team Trump lie to take hold in the right wing echo chamber. They will keep telling it despite the debunking.

Well, Bugs...Comey is kinda "NEW TO THIS" and he doesn't really know what he's doing.
Ryan's excuse for Trump. The goofy looking fool/flip-flopper/ass kisser Ryan along with Christy Crème, Lyin' Ted and the other Trump ass kissers are using this excuse. Funny stuff. Trump has been 'involved' in Politics for 20 yrs or more if you look at his past tweets. He's hung out with Politicians and has stated HIS OPINION for all those years. You'd think, rubbing elbows with all those people, he'd have learned something. Anyone with one brain cell should know that if you ask others to "clear the room" so you could speak to someone else who isn't exactly 'on your side', that there is something you're going to say/do that you don't want anyone else to hear. How dumb do they think people are??
Are they saying that they think Trump is gay and he was going to put the moves on Comey? He'd have to get a step-stool.

Paul Ryan's "defense" of Trump was hilarious - basically claiming that Trump's outrages should be excused because he's clueless and doesn't know the "protocols."

Of course, Trump knew the "protocols" enough to dine with Comey alone when he held his job over his head and demanded "loyalty," and when he chased everyone out of the Oval Office - even the AG - when pressuring Comey to drop the Flynn investigation.

There is no Trump outrage they won't defend, the interests of the nation be damned.

Ignorance of the law is no excuse for violating the law. Why isn't Ryan holding Trump accountable?
