http://www.people.com/article/kentucky-reptile-store-owner-hospitalized-after-being-attacked-20-ft-python This actually was a “pet store” item for sale. A 20 foot python. Who in the world wants a 20 foot python as a pet? I guess someone who has grown impatient with waiting for his on 10 foot python to put on its next growth spurt. Actually, at 10 feet – that’s about the size when owners contemplate releasing their pet pythons into the everglades, isn’t it? At that size, a 10 foot python is no longer satisfied with feedings of the occasional dead rat. They probably want a live goat or pig, right? This python bit the shop owner (on the face!) then wrapped its coils around the man’s neck and head, attempting to suffocate him. (“Where’s my goat, you mother#&*@er?”) A “friend” tried to dissuade the snake by throwing hot water on it, to no effect. By this time, the man being suffocated was limp and unresponsive. Police were summoned, and did NOT shoot the snake, presumably because it was black and unarmed. They uncoiled the reptile and returned it to its cage. The shop owner is now “making progress” in the hospital, and breathing on his own again. Local officials are debating whether or not to remove the snake from the pet shop, so that it cannot be sold to the public.
