With the oceans going acidic and warming there will be significant impacts on fishing both natural and legal. In the foreseeable future these will drastically reduce the supply of seafood.

Those that own Long John Silvers might also heed the potential.

Darden Restaurants says it entered an agreement to sell its Red Lobster chain to investment firm Golden Gate Capital in a $2.1 billion cash deal.

The move comes as Darden, which also owns Olive Garden, fights to improve its financial performance.

It's my understanding that the acidification will affect the shellfish ability to concentrate lime in their shells and make them hard, but I guess that's a good thing if you like soft shell crabs. :)

Some will suggest that ocean acidity has risen and fallen over the billions of years and they would be correct. As flora and fauna that count on current levels of acidity die off, others will thrive.

The problem is that humanity has adapted itself to the flora and fauna that thrive under the current conditions. That's true of climate and sea levels, as well.

Mature abhors a vacuum, and as one species vacates a niche another will either develop to fill it or an entirely new species will be created and fill it.

The near demise of the Atlantic Cod is a prime example of near extinction due to mans over fishing and there is a school of thought that the cod will never regains it's former population levels due as you said other species thriving on what the cod once utilized.
