The whole reason the right encourages illegal immigration so much (by restricting legal immigration) is that the ratio of what undocumented immigrants produce to what they consume is so much greater than for the rest of us (since their not having legal status makes it easier to exploit them). The vote counts in those years show pretty much the same stats. Based on your logic there should have been a giant jump in numbers voting democrat. There weren't.
Hillary got about the same number of votes in California as Obama did.
