The death of the middle class...

connieb

Senator
I think honestly the only way to get those jobs back is massive tax cuts/ programs offered to corporations to manufacture here. Which is of course never popular. But, I am not talking about income taxes - I am talking tax credits based on the number of employees the number of jobs at 200% of minimum wage, or some other method do encourage production here.

I would like to see our government curb its spending that goes to foreign owned companies - NOT by cutting those companies out but by doing what has been successful in getting minority owned business more market share, setting quotas. I.e. 95 % of all federal spending should be have to go to US owned businesess. That doesn't prohibit foreign owned businesess, and doesn't prohibit them teaming or forming an US owned arm, but it would ensure more of our government spending would stay here.

I would also like to see quota's requiring a certain amount of small business spending. If we require the government to use small businesses that would help offer middle class jobs here in the US because most busineses that qualify as small businesses don't have overseas connections and outsourcing.

Part of the deterioration of our middle class is related to all the mergers and aquisitions of small companies by larger companies, who had upper hands with labor, and essentially would always reduce workers or outsource. And, they can because they are disconnected. But, a 10Million a year business CAN compete and they are not disconnected from their employees - so layoffs hurt they are people they see every day, outsourcing hurts because they are letting go people they have known for years. With the increase technology today, and the availablility and overall decrease in expense, small businesses can be just as competitive as large ones, but our goverment needs to make a concerted effort to deal with them, both at fed and state level.

This one bears repeating as it could be implied or actual I suspect:

PJ RULE: Refrain from name calling and attacking the poster. If you are reported you will most likely receive an infraction or a warning. Just comment on the POST, not the POSTER.

When you wrote

Only for those in a position to produce value and big government and vast social welfare and public works inhibits a nation's ability to do that. This isn't rocket science - it's econ 101...
in response to my comment "I agree with you that trade wars would be a disaster but there have to be some protections and rules against excessive cheating. Your sure seem pessimistic about America and with it, I think, the future of the world's economy. I still believe that it is morning on planet earth..."

who are the "those" that you saw in my post?

And yes. I know you are a master of econ 101.

Yes, I'm an idiot but your suspicions about implied insults and attacking posters could become a slippery slope. Barney Frank could not have suggested as he did with his reply "I would sooner argue with a table than try to talk to you madame", that his questioner was an i%$t (better safe than sorry I always say), or maybe he just likes table, and I would hate to lose access to such wonderful debate as this

" It's the deliberate murder of the middle class, CB. It's all part of the plan, agenda and leftist ploy to destroy America so they can 'remake' it into their image of a socialist (commie w/a smiley face) utopia with them in complete/total control, of course.

As usual, they vastly underestimate those pesky Americans."

"You ever thought about a job as a revisionist Lapfat, you are very good at it."

So was that a deliberate typo or not? And what is being implied by the terms "socialist (commie w/a smiley face)" and "revisionist". This is the type of language that leads to death threats and violence you know.

PS Thank you for your service. It is a thankless task.

Really. It is a thankless task.

Going back to the Clinton tax rates is 60%, maybe 80%, didnt you know that Mark?
No I didn't. Well then Bush did a good thing to cut them from "60 percent of everything they make at the federal level?"

You know, I hear Martin Luther King was greatly concerned about the issue of tax slavery. Is that true?

Yes, Obama's "solution" is just more central planning by the Kenyan Kommisar. Blah, blah, blah... A third thing we could do is be more welcoming of immigrants. They help grow the economy and will tend to be younger and can help us with our "legacy costs" of the social welfare system covering the baby boomers.
No he suggested changes in tax policy, not central planning, and yes he agreed with that. .

Hey connie,

I suspect there are member in congress who are thinking about the ideas you express along with others and we should encourage them to cooperate in deciding which ones can garner broad support instead of playing politics without regard for our economic welfare.
