The U.S. this moment is not a fan of my politics. There is one avowed Marxist elected official that I know of, Kshama Sawant (Socialist Alternative) of the Seattle City Council, and the last person I consider a genuine communist elected to public office here who didn't capitulate to reaction would be Rodney Salisbury (Communist), Sheridan County, MT sheriff 1922-1928. So I probably wouldn't win ... doesn't necessarily mean I shouldn't run, though.

That's one more than the number of avowed National Socialists elected; you're doing well.

People with firm principles don't get far in American politics.
