Thomas Jefferson

Boca

Governor
His portrait is on the $2.00 Dollar Bill.

This is amazing. (I've seen this before and it is truly amazing)

Thomas Jefferson was a very remarkable man who started learning very early in life and never stopped.

At 5, began studying under his cousin's tutor.

At 9, studied Latin, Greek and French.

At 14, studied classical literature and additional languages.

At 16, entered the College of William and Mary. Also could write in Greek with one hand,
while writing the same in Latin with the other.

At 19, studied
Law for 5 years starting under George Wythe.

At 23, started his own law practice.

At 25, was elected to the Virginia House of Burgesses.

At 31, wrote the widely circulated "Summary View of the Rights of British America," and retired from his law practice.

At 32, was a delegate to the Second Continental Congress.

At 33, wrote the Declaration of Independence.

At 33, took three years to revise Virginia's legal code and wrote a
Public Education bill and a statute for Religious Freedom.

At 36, was elected the second Governor of Virginia, succeeding Patrick
Henry.

At 40, served in Congress for two years.

At 41, was the American minister to France and negotiated commercial treaties with
European nations
along with Ben Franklin and John Adams.

At 46, served as the first Secretary of State under George Washington.

At 53, served as Vice President and was elected President of the American Philosophical Society.

At 55, drafted the Kentucky Resolutions and became the active head of the
Republican Party.

At 57, was elected the third president of the United States.

At 60, obtained the Louisiana Purchase, doubling the nation's size.

At 61, was
elected to a second term as President.

At 65, retired to Monticello.

At 80, helped President Monroe shape the Monroe Doctrine.

At 81, almost single-handedly, created the University of Virginia and served as its first
president.

At 83, died on the 50th Anniversary of the Signing of the Declaration of Independence,
along with John Adams.

Thomas Jefferson knew because he himself studied, the previous failed attempts at government. He understood actual history, the nature of God, His laws and the nature of man. That happens to be way more than what most understand
today.

Jefferson really knew his stuff...

A voice from the past to lead us in the future:

John F. Kennedy held a dinner in the White House for a group of the brightest minds in the nation at that time. He made this statement:

"This is perhaps the assembly of the most intelligence ever to gather at one time in the White House, with the exception of when Thomas Jefferson dined alone"

"When we get piled upon one another in large cities, as in Europe, we shall become as corrupt as Europe."

Thomas Jefferson

"The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not."

Thomas Jefferson

"It is incumbent on every generation to pay its own debts as it goes. A principle which if acted on, would saveone-half the wars of the world."

Thomas Jefferson

"I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people, under the pretense of taking care of them."

Thomas Jefferson

"My reading of history convinces me that most bad government results from too much government."

Thomas Jefferson

"No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms."

Thomas Jefferson

"The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms
is,
as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government."

Thomas Jefferson

"The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants."

Thomas Jefferson

"To compel a man to subsidize with his taxes, the propagation of ideas which he
disbelieves
and abhors, is sinful and tyrannical."

Thomas Jefferson
How an American House of Lords Was Set Up

Jefferson was purposely kept out of the plutocratic elitists' writing of the Constitution because he believed in the majority of Americans too much and the Framers didn't believe in them at all. They wanted to establish their bootlicking flunkies and spoiled-putrid sons in power.

3 of 9 quotes are spurious. Jefferson never said

"The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not."

Nor

"My reading of history convinces me that most bad government results from too much government."

Nor

"The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government."

Jefferson's alleged belief that "all men are created equal" was revealed as rank hypocrisy be the British essayist Samuel Johnson who asked why it was the "drivers of negroes" were those making the "loudest yelps" about infringements upon their liberties.

Meh. Bullshit.

He inherited his slaves. Was compelled by law to keep them lest they be turned loose on a civilized white people. Hated slavery. Wanted to free his slaves upon his death like Washington did but that loop hole in the law had been closed by then.

False. Under Virginia law he could have freed his slaves at any time, and in fact he did free 5 of his 135 slaves in his will, as well as 2 prior to his death.

Throwing a Bone to the Yankee White-Hating Snobs

The Declaration of Independence didn't apply to farm animals. Read what Jeff says in it about Indians; it will reveal what he truly felt about similar feral predatory parasites.

It was changed in 1786 to make it easier to free slaves and never made more difficult thereafter. So many slaves were freed that the percentage of Blacks who were free in VA rose to over 10%.
The date on that is 1782 not 1786.

In 1806 (after Washington’s death but before Jefferson’s) the Virginia legislature repealed much of that for all intents and purposes retuning Virginia to pre-1782 days. Slaves could be freed upon last will and testament but they had to be supported by the estate. Hence 5 were freed and the rest sold according to law.

So don’t blame Jefferson.

"Thomas Jefferson wrote that 'all men are created equal,' and yet enslaved more than six-hundred people over the course of his life. Although he made some legislative attempts against slavery and at times bemoaned its existence, he also profited directly from the institution of slavery and wrote that he suspected black people to be inferior to white people in his Notes on the State of Virginia"

Jeff thought black people are inferior to white people; do you agree?

Jefferson had the opportunity at age 21 to sell his chattel, leave Virginia, and prosper without resorting to "holding a wolf by its ear..."

He made the wrong choice.

https://www.monticello.org/site/plantation-and-slavery/thomas-jeffersons-attitudes-toward-slavery

"Jefferson wrote that maintaining slavery was like holding 'a wolf by the ear, and we can neither hold him, nor safely let him go'17

"He thought that his cherished federal union, the world’s first democratic experiment, would be destroyed by slavery.

"To emancipate slaves on American soil, Jefferson thought, would result in a large-scale race war that would be as brutal and deadly as the slave revolt in Haiti in 1791.

"But he also believed that to keep slaves in bondage, with part of America in favor of abolition and part of America in favor of perpetuating slavery, could only result in a civil war that would destroy the union.

"Jefferson’s latter prediction was correct: in 1861, the contest over slavery sparked a bloody civil war and the creation of two nations—Union and Confederacy—in the place of one."

His estate was in debt upon his death hence the need to sell his slaves.

So much for the ol’ profited idea.

Jefferson died at age 83, 62 years after inheriting his chattel. Since he was gifted with many talents, the fact he choose to live his life surrounded by slaves shows how little "liberty" influenced his actions as opposed to his oratory.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_Jefferson#Education,_early_family_life

"Thomas inherited approximately 5,000 acres (2,000 ha; 7.8 sq mi) of land, including Monticello. He assumed full authority over his property at age 21.[5]..."

"Jefferson mastered many disciplines, which ranged from surveying and mathematics to horticulture and mechanics.

"He was a proven architect in the classical tradition.

"Jefferson's keen interest in religion and philosophy earned him the presidency of the American Philosophical Society."

So what. He inherited his slaves and died in debt. Like I said.

Boca wouldn't know if everything in his post was accurate or not.....or from a Russian bot.
Cons don't do research.
