Trump's Russian Laundromat

"In 1984, a Russian émigré named David Bogatin went shopping for apartments in New York City. The 38-year-old had arrived in America seven years before, with just $3 in his pocket. But for a former pilot in the Soviet Army—his specialty had been shooting down Americans over North Vietnam—he had clearly done quite well for himself. Bogatin wasn’t hunting for a place in Brighton Beach, the Brooklyn enclave known as “Little Odessa” for its large population of immigrants from the Soviet Union. Instead, he was fixated on the glitziest apartment building on Fifth Avenue, a gaudy, 58-story edifice with gold-plated fixtures and a pink-marble atrium: Trump Tower..."

"From the day it opened, the building was a hit—all but a few dozen of its 263 units had sold in the first few months. But Bogatin wasn’t deterred by the limited availability or the sky-high prices. The Russian plunked down $6 million to buy not one or two, but five luxury condos. The big check apparently caught the attention of the owner. According to Wayne Barrett, who investigated the deal for the Village Voice, Trump personally attended the closing, along with Bogatin."

Three years later, Bogatin pleaded guilty to participating in a yuuge gasoline bootlegging scheme with the Russian mob.

"On the 78th floor: a Russian who once was accused of mob ties and extortion by an oligarch.

"On the 79th, an Uzbek jeweler investigated for money laundering who was eventually executed on the street in Manhattan:rolleyes:.

"And four floors higher, a pro-Moscow Ukrainian politician whose party hired a Donald Trump adviser."

Trump sold property to numerous, mobbed-up rich guys without performing any due diligence on how they acquired their wealth.

Imagine that.

Why should he care how they acquired their wealth?

Only if done purposely.
Like in Atlantic City?

"Donald Trump has long deployed what might be called the chaff approach to evading legal scrutiny in his business dealings. Parts of his labyrinthine business holdings seem to be likely targets of investigation.

"He was sued for civil fraud over promises made to students of Trump University (a case that was settled after Trump became President). He talked on CNBC about the need to pay bribes when doing business overseas.

"His Atlantic City casino, the Taj Mahal, was in violation of anti-money-laundering laws when Trump owned it.

"He has had ties to New York Mafia figures.

"Yet he has never been indicted nor, for all we know, did any prosecutor consider pursuing a criminal case."

"'Set aside Putin and follow the money' a Russia expert’s theory of the Trump scandal"

"'To understand the roots of the collusion, set aside Putin and follow the money.'

"That’s what Seva Gunitsky, a politics professor at the University of Toronto and the author of Aftershocks, told me in a recent interview.

"I reached out to Gunitsky on Monday after he posted a short but incisive thread on Twitter about the financial roots of the Trump-Russia collusion case.

"Gunitsky, who was raised in Russia, has followed the evolving relationship between Donald Trump and Russia for more than a decade.

"He says the prevailing narrative about Putin interfering in the American election in order to undermine democracy is wildly overstated.

"Putin is happy to sow confusion and distrust in America’s system, of course, but to assume that’s the basis of this operation is to overlook a much simpler motive: money."

BOMBSHELL! TRUMP ORDERED BORSCHT! BOMBSHELL!

"When Trump World Tower at 845 United Nations Plaza began construction two decades ago as the tallest residential building in the country (90 stories), its most expensive floors attracted wealthy people getting their money out of what had been the Soviet Union.

"Trump needed the big spenders.

"He was renegotiating $1.8 billion in junk bonds for his Atlantic City resorts, and the tower was built on a mountain of debt owed to German banks.

"As Trump wrote in The Art of the Comeback, 'It crushed my ego, my pride, to go hat in hand to the bankers.'

"Trump’s soft spot for Russia is an ongoing mystery, and the large number of condominium sales he made to people with ties to former Soviet republics may offer clues. 'We had big buyers from Russia and Ukraine and Kazakhstan,' says Debra Stotts, a sales agent who filled up the tower.

"The very top floors went unsold for years, but a third of units sold on floors 76 through 83 by 2004 involved people or limited liability companies connected to Russia and neighboring states, a Bloomberg investigation shows.

"The reporting involved more than two dozen interviews and a review of hundreds of public records filed in New York."

Yeap, pays 40 million for a house and a German pays 90 million for same house in reuins ... oh wait ... it wasn't a German ... hmmm, could've been a Brazilian ... hmmm, which country did this person who overpaid Red Don come from

What if I told you Bill Clinton made $500,000 for a speech in Russia right after Hillary did some business with Putin?

"The president is also irritated by the notion that Mueller’s probe could reach into his and his family’s finances, advisers said.

"Trump has been fuming about the probe in recent weeks as he has been informed about the legal questions that he and his family could face.

"His primary frustration centers on why allegations that his campaign coordinated with Russia should spread into scrutinizing many years of Trump dealmaking.

"He has told aides he was especially disturbed after learning Mueller would be able to access several years of his tax returns.":p
