U.S. Now Has Largest Oil Reserves in the World, Thanks to Fracking

Global warmers fear-unlimited global warming. Neo-cons rejoice-unlimited war in the M.E.

Do you know this to be untrue. When S. Arabia murders a journalist and threatens $200/barrel oil what does that really mean?

Oil is self replenishing - the oil wells in Alaska have replenished them selves and the US, in Alaska alone, has enough oil to last it 200 years. Fracking is cheap and lazy and destructive.

nice numbers and graphs but all false. No where do you account for the costs of our obtaining petrol from the ME. Producing it local to the US is far cheaper then importing it thus self-sufficiency is the optiomal position to be in
How much of our local shale oil production is destined for export?

Do you feel lucky, Punk

Great all we need to do is destroy cities to get to the oil

When did oil become a renewable resource?
Since always George, it is an a biotic and made at the earths mantle and it rises to the surface which is why fracking is such a cheap con. Tell people it's running out and the prices do what?

Fact: The US has enough oil in Alaska to keep you for 200 years --- but where would be the profit for our enemies = Corporate et al?

How many millions of years are required for fossil fuels to regenerate?

https://www.nationalgeographic.org/encyclopedia/petroleum/

"Petroleum (also known as crude oil or simply oil) is a fossil fuel that was formed from the remains of ancient marine organisms.

"Millions of years ago, algae and plants lived in shallow seas. After dying and sinking to the seafloor, the organic material mixed with other sediments and was buried.

"Over millions of years under high pressure and high temperature, the remains of these organisms transformed into what we know today as fossil fuels.

"Coal, natural gas, and petroleum are all fossil fuels that formed under similar conditions."

Oil is not a fossil fuel.

"Self-sufficiency is the road to poverty

"In his podcast Roberts on Smith, Ricardo, and Trade, Russ Roberts states that self-sufficiency is the road to poverty. Roberts elaborates on the economic theories of Adam Smith and David Ricardo to explain how specialization and trade create wealth and how how radical self-sufficiency leads to poverty."

Is fracking MORE contaminating than ordinary oil extraction?
Do you EVEN care?

https://www.greenpeace.org/usa/global-warming/issues/fracking/environmental-impacts-water/

"In order to frack, an enormous amount of water is mixed with various toxic chemical compounds to create frack fluid. This frack fluid is further contaminated by the heavy metals and radioactive elements that exist naturally in the shale.

"A significant portion of the frack fluid returns to the surface, where it can spill or be dumped into rivers and streams. Underground water supplies can also be contaminated by fracking, through migration of gas and frack fluid underground."

Are you English Winston?
An American fracking engineer was visiting family in the village across the Brooks - when they told him that 'they' intended to frack here he was appalled - he even hired a hall to give a lecture to the inhabitants about how fuc'king dangerous it is to frack these Isles before he went home.

And because of data protection No-One knows what chemicals are used.

You are not supposed to bring up fake climate change until after the election.

"Let’s quickly note how bad Trump’s current climate-change argument is..."

"Then Trump offered his faux-middle-ground position, that the climate has changed back and forth over time for millennia.

"And that is also true and not the point. I used an analogy earlier this week that I think is worth reiterating: From March to July, the resting air temperature in your house will gradually increase, thanks to the changing seasons.

"From August to December, it will trend back down.

"The current change in the climate is not akin to those slow transitions.

"It’s akin to you setting your house on fire on April 10.

"Trump would apparently argue that the rapid increase in air temperature from your burning house is just part of the natural cycle of things."

And because of data protection No-One knows what chemicals are used.
Another example of how corporations embrace any and all measures that will increase their private profits for a few by socializing costs onto the backs of the largely uninformed, unorganized many.

https://www.greenpeace.org/usa/global-warming/issues/fracking/environmental-impacts-water/

"In order to hydraulically fracture shale and extract the hydrocarbons, large quantities of water and chemicals must be injected underground.

"Thus fracking can pose a threat to local water resources, especially in areas where water is already scarce like the Barnett shale in Texas.

"In the Marcellus Shale region, the most expansive shale play in the United States, 2 to 10 million gallons of water are needed every time a well is fractured.

"Because wells can be fractured multiple times, the total amount of water used for fracking is unknown and can vary by location and technology.

"In western states like Texas and Colorado, over 3.6 million gallons are needed per fracture.

"In 2010, the U.S. EPA estimated that 70 to 140 billion gallons of water were used to fracture just 35,000 wells in the United States, more than was used by the city of Denver, Colorado in the same time period.

"As of 2012, the fracking industry has drilled around 1.2 million wells, and is slated to add at least 35,000 new wells every year. (Jeff Goodell, 'The Big Fracking Bubble: The Scam Behind the Gas Boom,'Rolling Stone 3/12/12 )"

What water is in danger? Underground fresh water or underground brackish water?
