UC Berkley Alumni: "It is a Violent Act to Demand Peaceful Protest"

Mr. Friscus

Governor
This is where kookiness reaches new heights.

I've noticed the recent trend of "normalization", and that even inaction on a topic is deemed as horrific by leftists. The demands are that one must oppose policies with all of your heart, all of your mind, and all of your soul (not love God, but oppose Conservative policies).. and if you don't, you're lumped in with the "bad" ones.

Nisa Dang, whose Facebook page identifies her as a current Nevada State Democratic Party field organizer, wrote a piece for the Daily Californian explaining that she was disgusted to see how many liberals took to Facebook after Wednesday’s riots to say that “in order for a protest to be effective, it must also be nonviolent,” because that’s a “flawed, problematic and deeply cowardly line of reasoning.”

That’s right: These people smashed windows, threw rocks at police officers, hurled Molotov cocktails, and caused $100,000 worth of damage, and Dang says that if you’re going to say that was wrong, then you need to “check your privilege” because “asking people to maintain a peaceful dialogue” during these kinds of demonstrations “is a violent act.”

Yes, you read that right . . . hurling flames into the air is defensible, but asking people to please not throw flames into the air “is a violent act,”

and if you disagree, Dang writes, then that is “idiocy.” Why? Well, according to Dang, there were rumors that Yiannopoulos “had plans to name undocumented students” during his speech, so no one has any right to say that it was wrong for people to get preemptively violent.

We've already seen a huge slandering of Uber because they dared to run their business during a NY Taxi Drivers protest due to Trump's Immigration Order.

Yes, how dare they not take the drastic action of shutting down their business.

This is only going to continue from here, and the kooky logic is going to be out there for all to see... and I think it will only benefit Conservatism.

Let leftists speak, it's the best way to beat them.

These morons try to outdo each other, while the Democrat establishment stands by mutely and lets it happen. They deserve everything that's coming their way...

We have a lot more people in this country that have flawed thinking processes, and dysfunctional value systems, and are just plain crazy.... than even I realized. All this election stuff over the last 18-24 months has really shined a light on some stuff. And a bunch of these folks are supposedly professionals.... journalists and teachers, and shit.

Somehow very familiar to socialist of today when compared to socialists of 1938.

The teachers and journalists are the scariest. They are in a position to influence so much. We spend a LOT of time correcting the wrong shit they learn at school.

They were. They kind of blew their cover by espousing insane conspiracy theories, fascist violence, civil-rights stomping, and public displays of ignorance so staggering there may not be any recovery.

Yes, it's patently idiotic to argue that calling for non-violence is a violent act. That said, neither of us had even heard of Nisa Dang until now. In a nation this big, if you look long enough and hard enough you can find all sorts of people making all sorts of dumb points. Finding an isolated example from an obscure figure and holding it up as emblematic of a whole movement isn't reasonable.

Let's take a look at that history to see what it really looks like from today. In the 1930s, a far-right demagogue had led a nativist party to enough electoral success that, despite the majority of voters voting against him, he became the country's leader. Immediately, he turned his hatred against a disliked religious minority, imposing policies designed to make their lives harder, in the name of security. Eventually, a member of that religious minority took violent action, killing a member of the leader's party. The leader used that as an excuse to run a vastly disproportionate terror campaign against the religious minority group. That was Kristallnacht.

There's a real risk we'll go down that same road. Eventually some Muslim will launch an attack against Trump's administration, and when that happens there will be millions of conservative nativists primed to take revenge on the religious minority through a campaign of violence.

Hey, dum dum, the topic of the post I was replying to was Nazi atrocities. How on Earth could someone respond to that without mentioning the Nazis? It's like you aren't even trying, at this point.

No, dude - you are all over this board explaining away lunatics. Citing a nutcase leftist Berkeley apologist as a single one-off aberration while posting the OKC bombing (clearly not a lunatic one-off, right?). Citing comparative incomes in CA and TX independent of cost of living as somehow indicative of economic well being.

You lie your rear off all over the board, lazily slathering selective and out-of-context data.

Oh, and you do invoke NAZIs every time you are on this board. Tsk, tsk.

From what I can tell, I don't think she's just one fringe person. Her ideology appears to be growing rapidly.

There's no "acceptable violence" going on in the Conservative movement that I know of.. or if it is, it's swiftly identified and denounced by the media. However, I don't think many mainstream media pundits would strike her down, as they probably mildly agree with her.

Hitler and the Nazi's were very willing to use violence to attain their ends. He'd be very proud of where the Leftist movement is going, carrying on the banner of socialism.

So your saying that when socialist Hitler tried to annihilate the Jews this would equate a Muslim killing mass citizens and the Americans who wanted to protect their fellow citizens by trying to stop a Muslim from killing citizens are like Hitler.

Your are an effing joke, not very bright either...You are saying that if a Muslim attacks, like in Orlando...holding the Muslim responsible is wrong.

I suggest you spend more time with people of the Muslim faith, and see how they feel, not everyone who is Muslim agrees with lefty, personally for me it's about 20 percent that agree with you, and in my family...it's 0 percent that agree with you.

No. I'm saying that a right-wing thug did what right-wing thugs tend to do, and selected a vulnerable minority group to attack.

Arkady

The left have made political violence acceptable in 2017. It didn't go unnoticed.
As a reminder, in 2016 the leader of the right was promising to pay the legal bills of people who violently attacked protesters for him. So far, we haven't seen that kind of stoking of violence from any major leader of the left.
